Things haven't gone well in 10+ years.
We had deja vu (the bad kind) for 10+ years.
We have been the very definition of mediocre for 10+ years.

It isn't about things going perfect, it's about things not being chronically mediocre or BAD. A.K.A. Coach Tomlin led-team.

Mike Tomlin hasn't come within a light year of perfect since 2010. Nothing remotely close to even really good.
We haven't been a contender for 10 years.

MOST of us felt going in to each season, that we weren't going to contend, without some lightning in a bottle.

MOST of us knew we would have to overcome Mike Tomlin and his sub-par coordinators with a pro-bowl filled roster and that is very rare.

If the Steelers were in any danger of losing money - maybe?

But they’re not. So it is a moot point.

I’m not leveling this at any specific poster.

But we don’t matter. Our individual opinions and thoughts do not matter to the Pittsburgh Steelers leadership team. If they’re were oceans of empty seats or the team wasn’t one of the biggest TV draws in the league, it might be a different story.

We as fans need to realize we’re not the main characters in this story. The noises we make on the internet and in the stands don’t move the needle.

Let me guess, you're one of the leading proponents of participation trophies that became all the rage in the 00s, right?
That was and is a very embarrassing movement in youth sports. You ramblings about people being disrespectful by actually wanting a good, contending professional football team are of a participation trophy variety.

Head coaches do not (thankfully) get tenure. They almost do in Pittsburgh. Tomlin was granted 5 more years, FIVE, at minimum, than he deserved. It was LONG, LONG overdue. I feel no sympathy for Tomlin who did not earn his vast paychecks. He showed up, he coached, but he coached at a level that should have been 10% of the pay he received.

But it does relieve stress. Part of my stress, a small part I grant you, is being frustrated by below-average coaching and philosphy for 10 years for a team I root for and have been a fan of since 1977 (when I was five years old, in Atlanta, I chose the Steelers, my bro chose the Cowboys, my dad loved the Bengals).

By posting, I was able to de-stress from the endless Tomlin-generated frustration and anger. Mike Tomlin doesn't know or care about me at all. He could care less if I was stressed, but he did cause it by being a sub-par coach for 10+ years.

Today, my Steelers-related stress levels are the lowest they've been since at least Ben's second to last season.

If it gets worse and we actually have a losing season next year, I'll still be less stressed, provided we're making attempts to draft well, coach well and get things ready for a great 5 year run of deep playoff runs. THAT can finally be a possibility that has not and would not have existed if Tomlin had stayed here.

    THERE IS HOPE

Absolutely. I think stress related is a component of why we all post things in the internet.

I just don’t think it matters.

    AMEN.

A losing season or two, a really bad season or two, say 4-13 and 5-12 would not bother me in the least if HOPE remains and a plan is in place.
Treading .500 water and plugging massive leaks in the dam with chewing gum doesn't excite me. Heck a losing team might excite me more if the potential is there AND we have a much better draft slot for a year or two.

I have no inside financial information on the steelers, as there is no way to know definitively what their balance sheet, income, and cash flow look like as a private entity. We do know that the value of the franchise and revenue are average to below average for the league. So, if as you say, they have the biggest TV draw, it isn’t reflected in terms of revenue or value of the franchise. I also have no insight into how the steelers make decisions or develop long term strategy, maybe you do? That said, ignoring the voice of the customer in any for-profit endeavor seems like bad business to me. Just my opinion.

I didn't say like the Pirates forever just next few seasons. A big tweak is a steady QB.

Coaches wives and kids have to deal with a lot.. but they also get to deal with it while making generational money.

I would gladly put up with a little disrespect in the form of booing or online criticism if I was making millions.

Exactly. I'm sure no one likes it when their parent is being criticized in the public eye. But I'm also sure they won't be complaining when they get to go to the best schools and never have to wonder where their next meal, tuition payment, housing, car, etc. is coming from. And in a short time, Tomlin will be a near universally well-regarded celebrity to a global Steelers Nation. The negative will be mostly forgotten and he has a Lombardi trophy associated with his name. And if he decides to accept a TV gig (a far better future path for him IMO), he'll enjoy more wealth and more public admiration.

Life is good as Tomlin. Not going to feel too bad for anyone associated with him.

Yeah you call them out from the safety of your keyboard at home. Call them out to their face in the stadium and you would've been knocked out.
