Willis won with Green Bay too. Here are Willis stats this year, 30-35 422 yards 3 TD's and 0 turnovers. He had a 145 passer rating. Even though that is a small window his stats are out of this world and that doesn't even take into account that he is a dynamic runner.

Oh no he is bigger than Murray and doesn't have the lazy work ethic that hurt Murray's career.

Not talking about the lack of work ethic. Trinidad has that in spades.

I am talking about his massive issue of bailing out of clean pockets and possessing poor eye manipulation to fool defenders. In addition, his overall processing abilities are very suspect. Kyler Murray had the same issues but he was a one of one athlete coming out of Oklahoma.

Chambliss is a very good athlete but he isn't the same caliber of athlete that Murray was when he came out.

    No way
    Disagree wholeheartedly
You act like this guy is 5’6
I see more Mahommes than Murray

I rather take a chance on Will Howard or who ever we draft. I prefer Justin Fields, who is bigger and faster than Malik Willis, if we are to take a running QB. My theory is that I rather have a pure passer who can run when he has to. Running QB's are not consistently accurate and do not develop skills to read a defense to the extent a pure passer does (Its hard to be accurate, when you are moving and are hitting a moving target). The goal is to win SB, and as much as announcers fawn over running qb's, they rarely win SB. They have had success with their athletic ability in college and HS career and that doesn't work at elite levels in NFL.

    I don't.

Chambliss doesn't have 1/5th of Mahomes overall Arm Talent nor Arm Strength. In addition, despite being raw, Mahomes possessed superior eye manipulation than Trinidad ever did at Ole Miss. As far as size?!

I am not speaking of Trinidad's stature nor size. I am speaking from his weaknesses as a passer and how that lines up with what Kyler Murray struggled and continues to struggle with in the NFL.

I really don't want any Qbs under 6' 2". Not saying they can't be good, but it will always be a hindrance.

    Nor do I.

Patrick Mahomes, Caleb Williams, Brock Purdy (Kyle Shanahan technically) and Baker Mayfield are historic outliers. Hell, even Aaron Rodgers is as well but Aaron is big as hell for his size (235lbs during his prime).

For me?! 6'3 or above is my preference for QBs.

I like how Chambliss isn’t a run first qb
In fact while scrambling he keeps his head up and eyes down field.
When he has to run, he has some jets.
Not saying you are wrong and I am right, I just personally think he is a good qb. That displays positive traits.
Certainly isn’t affected by the big stage.

Maybe I didn't word that correctly.
I thought Patrick, and Rodgers are 6'2"?
I'm fine with that height, I just don't want anything shorter.

Murray’s issue comes from not being a student of the game.
    Lazy
Relying on talent instead of improving his skills.

    Big question
Just like I questioned about Darnold, can Willis succeed here with the lack of talent?
Darnold would’ve looked like the Darnold of the Carolina Panthers in our offense.
Darnold definitely a product of his environment the last 2 yrs. He is still a turnover machine.

Agreed, but being that short will always be a hindrance as a Qb, and that's not saying they can't be great, but it will always be a slight problem, they will always have to find passing windows that taller Qb don't have to worry about.

If we don’t get a Oline our QB will be running for his life.

I agree, and a running Qb can do it, but it's like swimming up stream.
Also people before You chime in, scrambling Qbs are not running Qbs.

    Chambliss is listed as 5’10
Looks taller didn’t really seemed to be dwarfed by other players on field

Sure...the goal for next year is probably to do poorly so we get a high draft pick.

But I don't think tanking would be much different if we just went with Mason / Howard.

Maybe something like this would make sense if we brought in Harbaugh to try to mimic what they did with Lamar. But (1) Lamar is likely much better than Willis and (2) I really, really, really don't want Harbaugh.

Darnold is the same guy he has always been, with just a better team around him. Same with Baker Mayfield.

Let’s have faith in our future coaching staff.

    I get that.

But we've been doing the half-measure rebuild for a long time now.

With the D this old, the goal is probably to get younger with a defensive rebuild. And to "position ourselves to draft a QB high in 2027".

I think that's what Tomlin leaving means.
