Tomlin wasn't born and raised in Pittsburgh, that would be a terrible reason to look for when hiring a HC.

Haven't had to think about a new coach in a while. Gonna take some time, do some research, make a list, check it twice, I'll let you know.

    Defensive or Offensive HC?

    Teams remaining in the postseason:

    Defensive ranks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 12, 13, 23
    Offensive ranks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 13, 14

So, a slight edge to offense but not glaringly one sided.

How about former Steelers defense coach Brian Flores?

And, then throw a ton of money at Mike McDaniel to be OC.

Ya'll..... That's funny. You just love lumping everybody into one big group don't you. Makes your narrative easier. You have no idea what the hell play was called any more than the rest of us. Just because you want to put all the blame on the players and none on the coaches doesn't make you right. As I said before, there were times when it was coaching and there were times when it was the players. Unfortunately for us, I'm sure there were times when it was both. It seems absolutely absurd to me to put all of the blame on either one. However, you on the other hand seem unwilling to put any of the blame on the coaching staff. Not just Tomlin, any of them.

Would the organization hire out of the College ranks?

A reminder from a week ago:

In the event of a Mike Tomlin departure, there's a belief that the Steelers still want a defensive-minded head coach. Shula would maintain Pittsburgh's strong defensive identity, with the Rolodex of Sean McVay-trained offensive coaches to reinvent their offense at his disposal. There's also familiarity, with Jalen Ramsey acting as a cornerstone of their secondary.
"The Steelers, Ravens and Bills have generated conversation in recent weeks," wrote Breer. "Is there any reality to it? I don’t think these would be firings. But there is some thought that Mike Tomlin could look at a reset, with the Pittsburgh roster potentially going through one soon too, and take a year or two in TV before returning to the sideline. And interestingly enough, Shula’s name has been connected to the Steelers, in case there is an opening.

No but it does give incentives regardless.

    That is BS imo.

What incentive is gained by interviewing a single minority coach?

    You mean the two outliers?!

Congrats. Same goes for Sean McDermont. What about the rest of the NFL Playoff Field?! Defense doesn't cut it anymore.

It is an Offensive Driven League. The NFL's Competition Committee will agree with me when they make yet another rule change to benefit the Offense yet again.

    Interviewing?! None. Hiring?! Completely different.

The NFL rewards teams for developing minority coaches and executives through compensatory draft picks, granting the original team two third-round selections (in consecutive years) if a minority assistant or front-office member is hired as a head coach or general manager by another team, incentivizing diversity in leadership roles. This rule, part of the broader Rooney Rule, aims to increase minority representation in top NFL positions by financially rewarding teams that successfully develop these candidates for promotion.

Hell no on Brian Flores. Flores already struck and missed with Tua. He needs to be with an established QB already in place (hint hint).

Yeah, I'm sure we'll have one. Just seemed like too many choices right now. I was more curious who folks were initially thinking about as the Tomlin news dropped. It's not often the Steelers are looking for a head coach.

So you think the Steelers or any team would hire a minority coach to give an opposing team draft picks? Oh my lord

It has happened before. Who's to say it won't happen again?! Dealing in absolutes is a dangerous ideology.

Furthermore, it is their rule. What better way to promote such a rule than to enact on it?!

It’s happened before? Which nfl team hired a minority coach just to give their opponents draft picks?
