The city of Pittsburgh has done something no one ever thought they would pull off, the NFL Draft at Three Rivers. I hope Rooney recognizes the opportunity he has before him.

You can revitalize and breath new life into a fanbase that has largely had its spirts crushed over the last decade. The word apathy has been thrown around a lot lately and after last night it’s more gloomy than ever.

Imagine the jolt a regime change could deliver, a new head coach bringing innovative schemes, aggressive play calling, and a hunger to push beyond the standard is the standard plateau. A revitalized staff injecting fresh ideas into offense and defense, and suddenly the stadium and locker room feels electric again. The young core, guys like Troy Fautanu anchoring the right side of the line, Zach Frazier at center, Sawyer, Herbig and Harmon wreaking havoc on defense, Joey Porter locking down receivers and other emerging talents across the roster would thrive under new leadership.

A coaching overhaul timed with the draft would feel like destiny, the city would be buzzing, the draft becomes a launchpad for a re-energized Steelers era. Fans would rally, filling Acrisure Stadium with fresh optimism, tailgates roaring louder, and the Terrible Towel waving with genuine belief in contention again.

Steelers fans deserves that spark we need that spark, don't let this opportunity pass you by Rooney.

I believe you are being watched to optimistic. Tomlin be here next year. Maybe if the Ravens kicker hit that FG might have been different. But not now

I like the idea that the NFL is giving their cities that can't host a Super Bowl, and opportunity to host the draft instead.

Go ahead and say it @jeh1856@jeh1856

    Look at me!

    :drinks:

I really hope this comes to fruition though. Tomlin if he isnt done yet is near the end, why let anyone who wont be around much longer be involved with building the team. Maybe Tomlin makes it easy on them and walks away. However it happens, just hope it happens.

They want to send him off on a high appropriate note, but if he does not retire then he will be fired and it will not be pretty.

Peter Schrager is saying he expects Rooney and Tomlin to meet within the next 48 hours and come to a decision about his future. He thinks it will he known by the end of the week. I dont know if thats his gut telling him that or if he cited a source, I missed the beginning of it.

This hangs out like a 3rd eye:
I am truly having issues reconciling how Mr. Rooney can look out on the field (as he did last night) and not see the issues.

At some point you have to sit the Player Acquisitions folks and the Coaching folks in a room and ask 'We took a bunch of Wal Mart specials to the Division title and a playoff appearance. What do we need to do to get to that next level?"

It won't do us any good if they fire Tomlin and leave the GM room the same. All will get is a new coach being provided with blue light specials.

I do subscribe to 'building through the draft' but I don't just take my 7 picks every year. I trade vets at key times and get picks and I use them along with mine to wheel and deal through the draft to hopefully get 'impact players' that can produce those big-time plays.

I think we are using Free Agency a little much, and not good at it, and we're addressing critical positions like QB and WR.(Well not really addressing them but filling the spots.)

It's going to be interesting to see how they perceive answers. And as mentioned, the draft is right here in our yard.

Who is playing QB in this scenario?

Like I am not trying to be a jack-ass. But this years QB class looks weak as all get out. Now we are told to get excited about the next QB class. From what I have read....I see why folks are saying that. Who knows if they are right.

Is there an innovative scheme out there that makes Howard or Rudolph or Ty Simpson a top 15 performer at QB? Do you give a new regime 2026 to develop other parts of the system and then hope you can get in position to drop the QB into the system in 2027?

For me, and potentially only me, the need for an answer to the QB question is so much further up the list of my worries as a fan than any other concern.

Remember chuck Noll’s first year he had 1 win. Joe green was having melt downs from losing. Now with free agency it shouldn't take as long because you can add key pieces but we cant have bad drafts that we have had for many years. Too many misses.

1000 percent! Opportunities like this are rare. I hope they take advantage of it. New staff, draft in town and a lot of pics. I would even trade a player for another pic. in this draft. They must get younger and faster. I can dream.

Thanks Tomlin for the early years but it was time and glad you saw that too.

    New Regime indeed.

    Need an Offensive Minded Coach.

No more Defense. That isn't what the league is at currently.

The first brick to fall. Certainly whoever they hire next will bring in his own OC and DC.

I imagine Khan is safe but that would really be the cherry on top if they move Weidl to de facto GM.

Then again, with no Tomlin influencing roster moves, Khan may do better in free agency now.

    I wonder so too.
I'd expect a new coach will expect more from Omar. I can't hardly see a 30+ year old WR escorted to me and being told this is our solution.
I think we have the 21st spot in the draft...
I'm thinking they will have to do better to get a QB or maybe WR.

I really think bringing in older vets was a Tomlin thing. He likes that security, of players knowing their jobs.

Exciting times ahead, cant wait to get things started.
