I don't think Ben would have come here. I think he was looking for a team with a good, young quarterback to mold, so I think he really had his eyes set on Chicago.

That will guarantee Rodgers doesn't come back, too.

I'm not sure I agree with this they still don't have a franchise QB, the new HC can bet he will be given a long leash though. What's crazy is the Bengals are the only team in the AFC North to keep their HC after this season .

Who would have thought Taylor would be the only one keeping his job?

He would have because his agent and common sense would know they have a 15-20 year job. Steelers coaching job is the most secure head coaching job in sports. I believe the last time the Steelers fired a head coach was 1941.

That's only because Burrow likes him.

Taylor works for a bum and Taylor has a fragile QB every year. He’s stuck balancing both.

That would be a draw, for sure. It would have been some lean years, though, and he has built an instant contender with a talented young roster.

Maybe more than Rodgers...Heyward? TJ possibly asking out?, Metcalf as well?

I'd think a lot of veterans on short term deals will not be retained. Time to reset.

Yeah, agreed. Storied franchise with lifetime coaching status... but there's no QB, several roster holes and some cap issues to clean up. Still, this is fixable with the right staff and there are 12 picks coming.

I guess 7 consecutive playoff loses (i.e. humiliations) was enough. Should be an exciting offseason!

Please dear God no Pittsburgh native retreads on the short list. I dont want to hear the names McCarthy or Wannstedt uttered at all.

Any coach they hire will be guaranteed to keep his job forever. What coach doesn't want that??

The biggest issue I see is that the Steelers are likely going to hire a whole new staff at a time where there are more coaching vacancies than ever. That's absolutely not ideal. That said, the Steelers will be at the top or near the top for every coaching prospect because of the name alone.

I think Johnson turned down Washington before they got Jayden Daniels IIRC.

According to ESPN, because he resigned while still under contract, the Steelers will retain Tomlin's coaching rights and could negotiate compensation if he returns to an NFL sideline before the end of the 2027 season.

Could get some draft capital out of this.
