Arthur and/or receivers are why we lost

DK and friermuth are the only one worth considering receivers.

But DK has a lot of problems.
    - more of a head case than pickens.
    - issues catching with his hands vs body
He needs a legit #2 to being able to perform well.

Aaron is very smart. However deep throw connections were an issue a lot of times throughout the season. (Or maybe it was receivers he don't know how to run routes. And that includes DK).
    - no game of 300+ yards
    - only two games high 200's
    - 5 games below 200
    - aaron needs to be our offensive coordinator.

    Arthur Smith
    - will run a play over and over and over again, with it constantly failing.
    - refuses to open the playbook.
If not for Rodgers, I'm afraid how bad our playbook would have looked.
    - however the receivers failed so many times. So maybe arthur would have been decent had we had receivers who know how to catch.

Is Smith truly any better than Canada?

Rodgers is miles better than Pickett and Trub but did the O really do better with Smith over Canada?

The receiving corps is definitely a problem. Downgrading from Pickens to Metcalf and failing to get a No. 2 were huge mistakes that crippled the offense.

All of that said, the offensive line is also an issue. There is nobody in that group I trust other than Frazier. Fautanu was pathetic last night and it isn't the first time this season. He was brutal in the loss to the Chargers, too, as an example. I wonder just how much Rodgers and his quick release masked the problems up front this season.

True, but at the end of the day, Art Rooney II is ultimately the one who is most responsible for this team's decade long mediocrity, regardless of the roster.

We lost that game because the lines got manhandled.

Houston is the best D in the league for a reason.

Rodgers had no time do anything.

    What receivers?
An utter embarrassment. It's one thing to lose, it's another to put forth a product that's not worthy of mention and do that in a playoff in your own house.

A look at Rodgers' season vs Roethlisberger's last season, sorted in order of passing yards.

Interesting they both had similar top and bottom games but far different in the middle. Roethlisberger had DJ and Claypoo and actually passed to Muth as well.

[btw, also looked at total offense yards and the lines are almost on top of each other]

Said this multiple times, Rodgers made the line look better than it is. Same with the jumbo masking weak OL.

So is that personnel or coaching? There are some who believe Meyer should be brought back due to the improvements the line has shown in the later part of the season. I say it’s the same smoke and mirror we saw with Canada

They had one, his name was George Pickens. Now a 2026 All Pro WR for the Cowboys.

If there is someone good who becomes available, I'd fire Arthur Smith.

No, but he definitely helped the Cowboys win some games this year.

You don't become an All Pro WR unless you have the talent.

I would have preferred to have let him play out his contract and then get whatever comp pick he earned in the 2027 draft. WRs make lots of money and comp picks are mostly based on contract size (although playing time and stuff ends up mattering too).

My guess is that he wouldn't have meshed with Rodgers all that well. But not having a 2nd NFL (for the season season in a row) really hurt us IMO.

The Steelers with less talent than the Cowboys at WR still managed to have a better record and make the playoffs .

As good as George Pickens is, I don't think he can play defense. :)

The only thing more foolish that judging a quarterback solely by his team's wins and losses is judging any other player that way.

We could at least get a first down on the opening drive.
