No, it really isn't. If you stop a team on third down and force a punt, the average net for an NFL punt is a little over 40 yards. Are you really going to argue that the difference between getting the ball at your own 20 or the other team's 40 is irrelevant?

I like Porter jr. He's among the best 10-20 Corners in football in my opinion. Key for this defense. I can live with his numerous pass interface calls, and lack of interceptions.

The game in the regular season was the worst in his career no doubt....For the playoffs game,I take the 470 passing yards,5 TD 2 turnovers everytime,no matter what, especially against the number 1 pass defense in the league

No, I didn't. We were having a worthwhile discussion. Why did you have to turn it into a personal thing? Again?

No, a pass interference call on third down is not the same as a turnover. The major difference is field position. If you want to stand on the ground of saying that 40 yards of field position, the average net on a punt, is irrelevant, I imagine you will be standing there alone.

    You missed the main point

    Again

It’s not a personal thing Im trying to get you to look at the point you are missing

It has nothing to do with field position

A penalty of 5-10 yards is like to gave up a catch of 5-10 yards for a first down....Not the end of the world and move on in the next play....

this is you who don't understand that a penalty per 1-2 games and shutdown the opposing receiver the rest of the time is great for the team!

Keep being stubborn about that opinion...everyone disagrees with you on that

I’ve learned when people can not comprehend something that challenges them it’s easier for them to disagree rather than admit they do not understand

That is why half of the population is on the left side of the bell curve

Im sure you are doing the best you can

    "Again" was personal.

I'm not missing any point, but I am focusing on something that wasn't your main piont. You are comparing pass interference penalties that extend drives to turnovers. As part of that comment, you stated that field position is irrelevant. It is not. If you would like to focus on some other aspect of this issue, by all means do so. I would think you might want to walk back the claim that field position is irrelevant, but switching gears works fine, too.

The main point is that Porter has to get better at avoiding such penalties, but I think it is also fair to point out that officials seem to be on the lookout for it more with him. I'm not sure if the reduction in penalties this year is entirely a matter of him missing time this year or not, but he does seem to be getting better.

That was personal, too, but entertaining in a way I won't explain.

Why not simply retract the "field position is pretty irrelevant" comment and move on? It weakens your overall argument. Finding common ground is an important part of any argument, and I can't see you finding any with anyone on that particular statement.

Your claim that a penalty that extends a drive is comparable to a turnover is an interesting one. I don't fully agree, but in terms of how deflating it can be for a team and that it gives the opponent the ball, I see your point of view.

I would explain it to you but I can’t dumb it down enough I’m used to talking to high IQ characters

I’ll let @steelersrule6@steelersrule6 or @Steelersfan43@Steelersfan43 explain it to you they seem to be on the same playing level

I bashed Porter for his many shortcomings early on and he deserved it

And now I applaud his improvement

I was pretty down on JPJ coming into this season. I pretty sure I am somewhere in this thread saying so.

His play the second half of the season and last night's game have demanded that seriously revise my opinion. He simply took Nico Collins away last night. Really has come into his own as coverage CB.

Also, his emotional reaction late in the game on the bench demonstrated he cares passionately about the game and its outcome.

I was wrong about JPJ. He is what his supporters thought he was going to be. My bad!

At least he has youthful heart and no matter what he's in there. He has IT. That's one I WOULD keep.

I don't remember him getting as many penalties in the second half of the season, now they need to draft another CB who has good speed.
