Tomlin is Lieutenant Dyke in Band of Brothers and we are easy company sitting in the hertgen forest outside of foy. We need Spears and we can't have him!!

I think they have done ok in the draft, adding Frazier, Harmon, JPJ, Herbig, Washington, Fautanu (leaving last night aside), Sawyer and other contributors in recent drafts.

The trades and free agency moves have been less successful.

I agree that there are clearly shortcomings on the coaching side, and they need to make meaningful changes. At an absolute minimum Austin and Meyer need to be gone, and be replaced with proven coaches.

Ideally they do a full clear out of the coaching staff

Raiders get Mendoza at QB. That's a nice start.... plus they have some talent on both sides of the ball already in place.

I'm actually envious of the Raiders, especially if they get a good Head Coach with a background in offense.

Bradshaw describes MT as more of cheerleader than HC. Can't argue about that. We have a HC bot that depends on routine and stability vs innovation and strategy. Other teams playing chess and we find it hard playing marbles. We all know why this situation continues so no further pages of posts replicating thoughts from years ago. The arguments then are still alive and kicking. The only people who want MT to stay are veterans who grown long in the tooth and don't want to prove to a new HC they are still starting material, and those outside the organization who know that as long as MT is the Pittsburgh Steelers HC, they won't have to worry about ever losing to us post season. I was thinking more about QBs. Ben left about 4-5 years ago?

Ben Leaves- last franchises QB to date
Reindeer drafted and Ben is pissed because he doesn't know what he is doing, staying/ leaving.
    Duck
    Trubinski
    Haskins
    Pickett
    Wilson
    Reindeer (again)
    Rogers

Feel free to adds as I know I am missing some.

Getting to look like the Browns, not quite, but working on it.

Yes they haven’t been able to replace Ben. They tried with Pickett and it didn’t work

In fairness they had to give Pickett a bit of time and when they realised he didn’t have it they moved off him which is commendable.

I don’t know that they’ve necessarily missed on anyone in the draft since. They could have had Dart or Shough this year but that’s hindsight and there is no guarantee that either will make it long term. I expect they’ll try again in 2027 if not this year. If it doesn’t work that’s probably the end of the road for Khan as GM

I can agree with that. I've always thought a rah rah coach can only take a team so far. At some point you have to have new strategy, tactics and innovation.

Especially when you consider, despite the difference in perception, the Raiders and Jets have been just as successful over the last decade as we have. That's what some people miss, we've achieved nothing more than they have. Whether you consider SB wins, or just post season success, it's the same. At least, right now, they actually have A CHANCE to get better. We DON'T.

It's time to blow it all up and start over. Keep Boz, JPJ, Harmon, Waitman, Skowrenek, Frazier, McCormick, Gainwell, Washington, Herbig, Sawyer, Friermuth... and scrap the rest. OL needs an overhaul at RT, LT, LG. DL needs a real NT and DT to go with Harmon. Hell... go all in on a 4-3 alignment. Easier to find players in the draft for 4-3.

Exactly a fire sale. Keep Warren as well but wholesale Chuck Noll house cleaning like he did when he took the reigns.

I would argue that Tomlin hit his absolute ceiling in 2008 and has gone very steadily downhill ever since. He has a high floor, but his ceiling is pretty low, overall. Cowher's hirings and signings made it look higher than it was for a little while there, along with a fawning national media, but it was evident that the emperor had no clothes as far back as 2009.

trouble is MT may get to pick this draft. pick his OC. pick his DC. pick his coaches. pick his free agents. how has this worked out? he likes these players that seem to be projects. he is unable to make them better. his staff is unable to make them better. he's a players coach. he needs to coach football instead of players. the cycle continues until it doesn't. art2. i'm not sure that kahn and weidl can make picks that MT and staff won't screw up. MT likes these vets because he doesn't have to coach them. he sure doesn't make them better but i think he can make them worse and does.

There's an opportunity to embarrass them into change starting with the draft in Pittsburgh. Fans need to be relentless with the fire Tomlin chant from the draft on. Even if they are winning a game.
I know it won't happen, but it should

He will be fired over the next week or he won’t be fired at all. There is no point in protesting at the draft, unless you mean that it’ll force change in the longer term.

They’ll probably sacrifice any coach whose contract is up this offseason and let Mike T’s deal run down for another year. I don’t see him getting another extension this time though.

Its time to move on from Tomlin. I think its clear. Even if we won last night, its really time to bring in a new coach and staff as soon as possible, next year if it can be arranged.

Yeah, agree... keep Warren, but draft a decent rookie RB this time. Johnson is a bust.
