Yeah, I read that he hurt it while defending a pass during the 2 minute drill.

I gotta think that if it's not broken (ouch), then he'll be able to return at some point this year. Maybe a bad sprain. But I wonder if they'll keep him around if it looks like he'll miss the first half of the season. He'll miss the time he needed to develop as a CB, but he's a guy you want to have on gameday for his special teams. I'm betting at worst he's a great candidate for the PUP list. Maybe back sooner.

Hey Steelers, how's releasing Keenan Lewis working out for us??? Just to save a couple of bucks.

We didn't release him. He was a Free Agent who signed with someone else.

I'm still scratching my head as to why we didn't try harder to keep him, either way I don't think Brown getting hurt has much to do with Lewis being here or not.

We don't really know what the Steelers offered, do we? It seems to me that Lewis was so happy to be going to NO that he would have given them a hometown discount. We all remember his mysterious Facebook post a couple of weeks before the signing with the Saints was announced. He seemed giddy almost. I don't know, it just seemed to me that NO was always his first choice and he was determined to go home to Louisiana. Anybody else have this impression?

Have no idea what this is supposed to mean, we didn't release him and haven't played a single game yet.

Yes, he took a significant discount to play there. I think the Steelers are planning to extend Cortez Allen instead, because they like him better. It also gives them at least a year before they have to do it. Of course, both would be great, but we are against the cap. Colbert said it was a financial decision. But yeah, it would have taken a lot to lure him away from NO, maybe like $10 million, and I bet Colbert would never sleep again knowing he essentially paid so much more than another team would have.

    Ditto
So he got hurt in practice just like the 40 plus other players around the league did this week. I guess all Steelers are considered either unconditioned or a bust if they happen to get injured in a contact sport during practice.
I wish some people would get a half a clue. The world would be a better place.

A break would be better than a bad sprain. I've done both, the break healed much faster.

Absolutely I sprained my ankle about 15 years ago and it still causes me problems today.

Jesus, that's nuts. I know high ankle sprains linger, but I figured half the season at most. I never heard of a guy going on IR from a sprain that occurred in August. I'm surprised to hear a break would be better than that.

From what the doctor told me at my last physical some sprains can last a lifetime. It's not like it feels sprained all the time but some days I wake up and it feels like the day I did it.

Yep. Badly sprained my left ankle in 1979. Still hurts if I try to cut on it.

THIS!!! The man wanted to play closer to home! You can't stop a free agent from going where they want to go. Not the front office's fault. Let's all move on.

my son had a bad high ankle sprain in hs. most try to come back in a couple of weeks and they end up being out much longer because it is very easy to reinjure it. he was 16 he's 23 now and both ankles still give him trouble. he sprained the other one too, not as bad but bad enough.

yea they can last awhile snack. mc fadden had ankle trouble. pouncey has ankle trouble. a couple of years ago Timmons had one and tried to comeback, and it took awhile the 2nd time. it can linger.

Yeah I know they can be lingering injuries, which is why I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if he was out a couple of months, which is more than most other sprained body parts would be. I'm just saying broken bones also are pretty bad, and can affect you for a long time. I broke my tibia and fibula years ago and still can't jog without pain. Also, I imagine that the spectrum is wider for sprains. They can be long, but they can also be short. A broken ankle is probably a long recovery no matter what.

I think if it was broke he would have been off to the hospital. instead of back hanging around the field on crutches. anyway we need some corners.

Its unfortunate that he got hurt, this kid needs the reps
I certainly had high hopes for Curtis. My patience is running thin with him and a few other Steelers. All I can say to these young men is don't let this oppurtunity slip by, MAKE THINGS HAPPEN, if not you may be on the outside looking IN.

I sprained my ankle and it took a full year for it to heal. Every time I thought it was healed I would re-injure it somehow by doing something that wouldn't have hurt it before. It was also much more painful than when I broke it, although both hurt like hell

Typically a broken bone heals like clock work. 6-8 weeks later and he'd be back on the field as good as ever. With a sprain, many times it feels healed within a couple weeks but it's one of those things that keeps acting up long after it feels healed. He could be out 4 weeks or 4 months. He could come back and play but have issues the rest of the year. If I was an athlete I'd take a break over a sprain every day of the week. I've broken many bones and none of them gave me issues once they were healed.
