Rodgers in 2026?

I think if the team is interested in Rodgers coming back, and Rodgers wants to come back, Mike Tomlin isn't going anywhere until at least the end of 2026.

Rodgers has made it clear that he really likes and respects Tomlin, and the two seem to work very well together. I don't think Rodgers would ever come back if it was under a different head coach and a new offense.

The organization may get some input from Rodgers most likely through Tomlin, but I think no matter who takes over the OC position they would keep the current system in place so they aren't starting from ground zero with a new offense.

I would be in favor of releasing Mason Rudolph and drafting another young quarterback to get a year of watching a real pro operate and prepare, while absorbing as much knowledge as they can before Rodgers rides into the sunset. At that point, the Mike Tomlin situation would play itself out and it would be time to finally have the total reset with a new, young quarterback. That would be the perfect time to make major changes to the offensive system based on the quarterback talent they have(if necessary). The team would then choose one of the young quarterbacks to move forward with.

I can see something like that playing out.

They will want a veteran quarterback as number 2 so they will keep Mason who is under contract

They will not go into the season with Howard as the number 2

 

Rodgers has actually said he may be open to coming back next season. He also said it's 100%because of Tomlin and the locker room relationships. He said it's been fun playing football again. I'll try to find a link.

How much of this is genuine, I don't know. I dread that it will turn into a waiting game this offseason.

If he does decide to come back for next season, AND he announced this prior to the draft, I am more open to taking a first round WR than I would be normally.

Last year the Steelers and AR had an agreement in place well before the draft but he just didn’t want to announce it for good personal reasons

I think that we are gonna have to beat Houston, in order, for Rodgers to return next season.

 

These playoffs so far should tell you the importance of having a mobile QB. Rodgers is no longer built for the postseason. It really is time to move on for this team instead of treading water with oldster QBs. Even Brady's last SB win was because of defense and not because he was great. It's a young man's game.

You are absolutely correct about Rodgers decision, I believe You are incorrect on the decision of the draft, and only the draft will actually show us what they think about Howard.
