I would be more concerned with him switching right side to left side over making the move from OT to OG.

So again, given how historically Arthur Smith needs his Offensive Lineman to be essentially super athletes at their position, Dunker doesn't fit the mold here. It isn't me saying it as a fact but pattern recognition from what is known about how Arthur Smith's Offense has operated historically.

A precursor to Teryl being jettisoned?!

There is still the possibility of drafting another OT and replacing the entire left side. That guy from Bama, Proctor, is simply massive. Got an eye on that one.

a lot comes down to who fits. we run a lot of outside zone. i want a guy that can do what we do. (< i hate saying that.) depends on if our O-Line coach is kept. we need to match up guys that have played what we play a good bit so it doesn't mess everyone else up. cook knows the system well. i don't want a guy from a power run system or more inside zone to have to change and learn a whole different concept. that does depend on brains though. i want smart not just size. give me smart and large and quick footed and we will have something. i do believe that is jones problem.

I read on here the speculation that Jones just doesn't know football as much as he should. He's gotten by till now because he was the bigger, faster, stronger guy vs most of his opponents. You have to be able to process the game as well as have the physical traits at the NFL level.
That's another possibility. Jones moves inside to LG and Cook plays LT next season. I don't know. It is going to be fun watching it play out though.

Not so sure Proctor massive size produces results. Bama running game was atrocious.
Why they failed terrible against Indiana.

It's been a strange football season on my tv for both college and NFL. Normally, I would see certain teams most every weekend. I don't think I got a single Bama game other than the Iron Bowl this year. I didn't watch the SECCG so I don't know if it was on or not.

All that to say...Proctor is freaking huge! I did get several Bama games in 2024. I felt like what I was watching then was very impressive. Maybe he has regressed???

I think he will be pretty good for some team.

Proctor needs to lose some weight to be effective in the NFL.

I am pretty open to moving up in the second round this year with our highest 3rd round pick. I wouldn't love the OG pick in round 1... but if we went WR (Tyson/Tate/Lemon) and Styles/Hill in this scenario, I think its a homerun. We can grab a G with one of our 3rd or 4th round picks. Plenty of talent there on the IOL.

pat coogan might just be my new favorite. anchors the indiana line as their center. what a stud. moves well and holds up against oregons big first round NT. didn't give an inch to the big man. coogan was a guard at notre dame prior to his transfer to indiana. he and joe alt formed a really good left side in south bend. he impressed me very much. they even isoed him during the game and he looks as solid as a rock.

These 2 posts are dead on. I would love to see an all new staff on defense and an aggressive DC that MT would leave alone.

Well -- Wilson is a better off ball linebacker, and better in coverge. He makes more plays vs. the run and pass. Queen is vastly OVERPAID, better vs run ( but misses way too many tackles ) in terms of fighting through blockers.

If we had a better run defnding DT/NT a player like Wilson would shine.

Wilson comes off the field because he is a liability vs the run. If Wilson was better than Queen, then Wilson would be playing and they would be spelling Queen. There is a reason that Wilson has played less than 45% of the defensive snaps in 4 of our last 5 games. Its because the team thinks that he is bad vs. the run, and they've played Harrison instead. There isn't much of an argument to make that Wilson is a better player than Queen. He's a pass coverage specialist that is a good ST player. He is a complete liability against the run, and our run defense over the past 5 weeks has improved as Wilson has seen less time on first and second down.

I get that Queen is overpaid. I agree. I don't think its as drastic as you think it is, but I get why people are down on him. We paid him a lot and he's not worth every penny we paid him. However, he is the best ILB we have on the team and its not close... he is also one of the few vocal leaders on the defense that aren't Heyward. Unfortunately we just aren't in a position to be talking about changing up Queen because Wilson has proved that we can't trust him to be a 3 down player and Harrison is too limited athletically to be a 3 down player. Holcomb wasn't the same guy he was before his injury.

I still don't think that Queen is a problem for this defense. There aren't a lot of scenarios that see us cutting Queen and improving our ILB corps. We can have a discussion on whether or not we want Queen extended past '26 (or if we want to extend him at a lower amount), but I think cutting Patrick Queen makes this defense a good bit worse. There is no reason to do it if we can't improve the team in doing it. Money isn't a good enough reason when we'd have to spend more than the money we save by cutting him to improve it... I don't think the FO is considering cutting Queen at all.
