Nik Embernate Goes Down With Knee Injury - Carted Off

I know he's everybody's boy so I thought it could use its own thread. He was carted off the field. As of now they don't know how bad, but obviously it's either bad or extremely bad, and a season-ender seems like a safe bet.

Like everyone else I was hoping for a lot from him. PS for sure and possibly the 53, and a potential future starter in the Ramon Foster route. It's too bad if we lose him, and it'll be too bad if we lose Nick Williams. But if you look at it another way, injuries WILL happen. You can't avoid them. We should be grateful that so far it's been nothing but bubble players and practice squaders.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Think about this he was going to see the field much this year anyways. So now we can stash him on the IR give him a season to watch and see how the nfl is played and how the vets do it

Nooooooooooooooooooo! I really wanted to see this kid develop! OTOH it does help Golic Jr. in his quest to make at least the PS.

Thats a good point snack. We are lucky its not someone that is a starter. It's still very unfortunate.

So much for Tomlins mandatory knee braces

Keep in mind if they were to IR him now...he has to go through waivers and if not claimed he goes on the Steelers IR. While I'm not sure if they can wait to IR him (if it is a bad injury/etc) until the time where he'd go straight to IR compared to waivers or what.

Anyways this sucks...as I was hoping to get to see what he has in preseason/etc. I read that they were really in love with the guy and he was their highest paid UDFA this year...which shows how much they liked him.

I'm pretty sure that's just for waived/injured. If they go with a straight IR move he remains a Steeler.

That's what I was thinking. If we place him on the IR then he is still on our payroll.

Yeah, but there wasn't much difference across the UDFA's though. They gave him a $7,500 signing bonus across three years, where others got smaller SB's.

Hmmm...i thought that for a while too...and then I read some article within the last couple weeks that said otherwise...I forget what it was about...but i remember reading in there about that...so I was just going on that...figured things might have changed with this new CBA (seems like you hear about new things from it yearly). Oh well...hahaha

on the home page is says he was hit by LB Clark Haggans. I did a double take on that, thought he left the team a while ago. Sure enough, he was on the 49ers roster during the Superbowl last year. So he must have been hit by [TABLE="width: 580"]

There's a blurb on SD.com about this. In short there are two ways to get him on ir. They can waive him injured now if he passes through waivers they can add him to ir. Or they can carry him on the 90 man until the final week of cut downs and then place him on ir.

Depending on the severity of the injury, they could likely agree on an injury settlement.

I wasn't really trying to be critical, rather just pointing it out. For as much as I think I know the Steelers, I come on here and get educated every day. So when I saw that, I couldn't prove it was wrong on Google. A fantasy page said Clark was unsigned so far this year and thought maybe the Steelers had resigned him until I checked their roster and saw the DE Hagans. Anyway, my point is, I appreciate the knowledge I get here every day and didn't point it out to be critical bit to point to my own thought process.

I just thought you were trying to be helpful, and I appreciated it. :smiley1:

It was some kind of weird word association and I skimmed right past it when I proofread it.
