I had a 7 string for about 4 months, but for some reason I couldn't get into it, and I actually traded it for the 12 String Ibanez Acoustic guitar I had, which I traded for a Amp. LoL.

Switching from 4-string bass to 5-string in the mid 90's helped me. Bought a Carvin LB75... and played many gigs with it in a rock cover band. Playing 5-string bass made the conversion to 7-string guitar easy. Low B strings are a nice option to have whether it's bass or guitar.

Here's some of the guitars I recorded with from '04-'07.... you've seen the Carvin 7 and Strat. Still have those. Others are a rare BC Rich Exclusive (PRS copy)... regret selling it. Wish I still had it. Fender MIM Tele and Ibanez Artcore semi-hollow. Used Tele and Artcore for open tunings and slide playing.

Sounds cool. Will do when I get time. I have a Line 6 POD Studio UX2 recording interface for bass, guitar and vocals. Gotta update/reinstall my multi-track program... haven't used it in years.

 

No rush. I think it would be cool, and do whatever you feel, it's a original, and a Instrumental, so whatever you feel is cool to me.

Here it is in 2019.... looks about the same as it does now in 2026. My wife uses it for her praise music. She's music director at her church.

 

Very Cool. Way nicer than anything I got. I have no computer, and I'm still using the old boss1600. Half the knobs, and faders don't even work properly. LoL.
Makes sense that Your Wife then also uses it.

 

Looked up the Boss 1600... very cool. 16-track recorder. That's plenty of tracks for drums, guitars, bass, keys, vocals, etc.... for a live recording. I had to "bounce" tracks on my old digital Tascam Minidisc 4-track. It was fun to learn recording on... and it sounded a lot better than the popular cassette-based Tascam 4-tracks that were popular in the 90's.

 

The 1st recording of Gunfighters Moon was originally recorded in the late 80s on a cassette Tascam 4-track. LoL

 

Heck yeah... 2 of my old bands used Tascam cassette 4-tracks for demos. We thought it was the best thing since sliced bread at the time.

The 1600 is better than nothing, but its over 20 years old, and compared to the stuff that other guys have, and what they can do with them, it's antique. I watched a guy recorded on a friend's set up, and computer, and he didn't even have to play the whole song. Just the guitar for the verse once, and the chorus once, and just moved it around to the spots. LoL.
I was like, that's cheating. Lol

 

Winner. In 84, and 85 I played just rhythm for a band , and we did the whole 7 song demo on it. I still have that cassette.

 

I can do that if I wanted to with my PowerTracks software... but I don't.

But I do use the hell out of "punch in/out." LMAO!

PowerTracks is a poor man's Pro Tools. Works great and very user friendly.

 

I have always wondered at guys that do record that way , by moving it around if they can actually play the whole song live or not.
I can't get the hang of the punch in/out. It always seems to sound weird to me, so I just go all the way back to the closest break in what I'm playing, and start there, and record again. LoL

My musical career: I could play first 7 notes of Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple on a child's little starter guitar. That is all.

 

We all started somewhere my friend. My Grandparents noticed I could pick out the roots of songs on one or two strings on the guitar as a very little kid, and inspired me against my Parents will against it. LoL
