It created a lot of buzz, but I didn't really see what it was so newsworthy. Here's his first tweet.

I for one would be all in favor of replacing one of the forum posts information on the side for a Steeler related twitter feed. Steeler Depot, Tomlin, local reporters, ESPN/NFL reports related to the team, and if they want some of the players.

Sorry, not possible. There's a twitter feed on the home page, though.

    Whatever...
I really ain`t comfortable with our head coach, getting on the social media, that has caused so many problems for some of our(and other team`s) players...
    But...
    Whatever...
I thought he had learned about publically announcing his intentions, when he proclaimed... "We are Gonna Unleash HELL in December!!!"...
But, maybe, he feels it`s important, to show the kids that he is coaching, that he is "on their level"... Or something...
Not real happy about it, to be honest...But still lookin forward to how he condenses his "Tomlinism`s" to "Twitter"..
    LOL...
    He can be succinct...
Just, personally have an issue with any coach embracing social media, when it usually gets their players in trouble for speaking their minds... and what can he really say, that won`t put us at a competitive disadvantage, by showing other teams what we are focusing on?!?
    Like i said... Whatever...
I think it`s a bad choice, but, not likely, to really make any difference, when we face our opponents, unless he gives `em "bulletin board material"., That he usually avoids, when giving the glowing scouting report, on the team we are about to face, like he does in his weekly presssers..
I guess my biggest question is...
WHY?... Would he feel the need to enter the world of "twitter"???
To each their own... But, tbh... I don`t think it`s a good choice, on his part...
Maybe he wants to give us fans, a little insight into his personal life, and choices he makes....
I dunno.. I would think he could do that, in all the interviews he gives...
I`m just a dinosaur, I guess... Or a throwback, if am being kind to myself, in my "personal assesments"...
    No...
Damnit...Just stay off Twitter, Mike, is what I really wanna say...
    LOL!:lolol:

Time will tell, maybe it's the "someone is looking over their shoulder at me" thingy to help keep the players somewhat in-check there.

Or hell, meybe he joined so he could follow the ... "Tat Girl" ?? :lolol:

If you listen to his comments on it the reasons are twofold. One of which is his kids are entering the age of social networking and he wants to understand it and how it's used. The second was to lead by example for his players. He can't stop them from using twitter, but he can provide examples of what's acceptable and what isn't.

Just what I was going to say. I don't think you will be getting tweets from Mike telling fans to get a life and what not, nothing to fear here Bleed. By the way, for a dinosaur, you sure say "whatever" a lot :lolol:

Seriously. Anyone who knows anything about Tomlin knows we have nothing to fear here. Still surprising, though.

Yeah, Not really worried about it.. Hence the use of "Whatever"... LOL:rolleyes:
Just seems kinda funny that ANY N.F.L. head coach would have free time on their hands, to get on "Twitter"...
I would assume their time is pretty fully spent on other things, especially with their team just starting training camp...
Especially one as detail oriented, as Tomlin...
Oh Well.. like I said, no biggie...
Just kinda surprised me that he would be one to do that...
Lookin forward to hearing what he feels like "sharing", thru the tweets I read here...:lolol:

You may have something here. First there's the picture with the tattoo'd hood ornament and the next thing you know he's joining twitter. Coincidence? I think not! :hmmm:

There really isn't much time commitment to compose a tweet occasionally. I rather doubt that he will start following a bunch of people and spend time reading their tweets. However, put out info occasionally may raise his profile, which for him and his career could be a good thing for him. While I don't see him unemployed for many years, I guess there is always the chance that he is not planning on coaching as long as Dick Lebeau has, and so may one day move away from coaching. Not to imply he is building his resume with tweets, but merely becoming more approachable and favorable among fans both of the Steelers and football in general.
