Great News! Mike Adams is NOT on it. "He has received full clearance and should be practicing right away." Terry Hawthorne also was not on the list, implying he's over his little knee procedure and should be good to practice.

Predictable News! Heath Miller and Sean Spence are on it. Nothing to see here. Spence says he's eyeing a mid-season return, but obviously we'll have to wait and see.

Bad News! Alameda Ta'amu is on it with a hamstring injury. Not a great start for someone who needs every rep to get his crap together and be a part of this team. Since he figures to get so few reps (if any) during the regular season this year, preseason is when he needs to be at his healthiest. Update: Tomlin said he'll be out "for a number of days."

More Bad and Confusing News! Marcus Gilbert was carted off after the run, and Tomlin says he has no idea why. Possible he was just totally winded. Maybe he got sick. That would be better than an injury, but still not good. Then again, it's also possible that he's not in terrible shape, but he just underestimated the test and budgeted his stamina poorly. I did that once and barfed up a lung, even though I was in great shape at the time. Update: it does indeed look like he's not injured and is okay.

More "Bad" News! David Johnson is on it for a reason not mentioned. Presumably has to do with his ACL tear from a year ago, but I thought he was over it...? Oh well. I wish him well, but do feel that we are better off with him on the bench or off the team for any reason.

I saw a blurb somewhere earlier in the week stating he wasn't doing so well with the knee rehab.

Are you talking about Miller, Spence, or Johnson? I'm hoping and guessing Johnson.

Real disappointing about Ta'amu and yes, even Heath, I am surprised he is on the pup list. I knew he wouldn't start week one, I had him coming back around week 3 but the pup means he is out for the first 6 weeks right?

Won't panic about Gilbert until I learn more about that.

I cannot help but think that maybe Gilbert started off too quickly trying to impress the coaches and then got burned out by the heat. In addition, I have seen guys run 10Ks who did all their training on a treadmill, and then when they hit the course they struggle. It is part of multiple things, getting exposed to the heat after having trained in an air conditioned gym and actually having to push your body forward rather then just switch your feet.

If he goes on the pup list week 1 he has to wait until week 6. During the preseason they can remove him from it anytime they want. Remember Tomlin put Hampton on the pup list when he was over weight.

Correct. No worries, BF, this means nothing about when any of these guys are coming back. Heath could (won't, but could) come off this list tomorrow. Matt Spaeth has been working out with Heath and gave his (non-medical, Tomlin would want me to tell you) opinion that he thinks Heath will be there for the opener. Ta'amu might only miss a couple practices. Spence is the only one sure to miss real time.

In any case, no way will Heath be on the PUP list when the season starts (thus missing 6 games). If he was mortal, maybe. But no, I think he'll be there for the opener, and worst case scenario they'll do like Mendenhall and activate but bench him for the first week or two.

Yeah, I think it might be something like that too. I thought he was supposed to be in slightly better shape now, and he wasn't in terrible shape before. Makes no sense that he'd just go all Jamain Stephens. I think he just messed up the day, not his whole body.

Maybe the coaches saw him trying to block and presumed he was having some kind of back spasm?

    AMAZING!!!???

Can't believe these players are still on the roster.

    OBVIOUSLY

Tomlin has already lost control of this years team and should be

    FIRED IMMEDIATELY!

Hey man, Heath and I are 8 years and going on strong. I'm not about to just throw it all away for some Iowan... floozie!

Also, I added in someone I forgot. Terry Hawthorne was not on the PUP list, so he'll be practicing. I totally forgot he was even injured. That's good news.
