Aaron Rodgers on if he's played the kind of football he wanted to this year: "I mean, at times, yeah, definitely. You know, anytime you're in a first-year offense, there's always some growing pains within the offense. It's always you feel like if you had another year, you know what you could do. I look at the way I played in 2019 and then kind of the adjustments we made in the off season, and then the way I played in 2020, which was just in a whole kind of different level. I felt like, and I used to tease [Matt] LaFleur about this all the time, I was a game manager in 2019 and a game impactor in 2020 and 2021. I think a lot of that's just familiarity with the offense and with the guys. We've done the best we could with our conversations and our meeting time outside the facility and our meeting time in the facility. But obviously, the more years you get in a system with the same guys, the more continuity you have, the better you feel like you can play."

    https://x.com/i/status/2006493109191164173

Aaron Rodgers: "You always think about the what-if and the alternative timelines of your life. But if I hadn't taken this path, I never would have met so many guys in the locker room who I now call close friends and wouldn't have the experiences and the memories on the field, wouldn't have been able to be in the room with Tom Arth again and Bake [Matt Baker] and be able to play for Arthur Smith and Mike Tomlin. And I feel like there would be a little hole in my life missing without having this chapter. So I'm thankful for this time."

    https://x.com/i/status/2006492809185136948
Aaron Rodgers: "Listen, I'm thinking about this week, but obviously I'm 42 years old, and I'm on a one-year deal, so you know what the situation is. Whenever the season ends, I'll be a free agent, so that will give me a lot of options if I still want to play. I mean, not a lot of options, but there'll be options, I would think maybe one or two if I decide I still want to play. But I've enjoyed this experience, and everybody in Pittsburgh has been fantastic to me on and off the field, and it's really what I was hoping for, for this experience was it's been even better than I was hoping."

Going the old/tired/retread/backup route isn't the way to a championship:

....Steelers are working on their own jersery btw....

At least our shirt with HC's since 1969 would be short;)

If we start the 2026 TC with Willis and Howard, Rudolph as the veteran backup, I think I may be ok with that. Just as ok as with any rookie we would draft that is.

I would hold on the Rogers a give him the QB coaching job. He could fine tuned Mason then see what Will has and go from there.

I think YOU think the Steelers won't win anything with Tomlin as HC, and YOU think Tomlin is a joke, and you are projecting your beliefs onto Rodgers. You have no idea that Rodgers thinks those things

Rodgers would coach at any California team before Pittsburgh unless there is an outside chance he would want fractional ownership in the Steelers.

If we beat the Ravens he could return next season. If we lose he is riding off into the sunset.

I kind of like this plan.

Also, I (and ONLY an uninformed opinion here) have always believed that Mike Tomlin wanted Willis and not Pickett. Further, looking at what Smith did with Fields...I think he could work well with Willis.

No idea what happens or if it would be anything besides awful....but it is a the current "best" idea I have seen anyone throw out there.

I said that about Ben and was told he looks more like an offensive linemen now.

No doubt in my mind Brady could come back and perform as good as 25% of todays starters. He may have to come back if he keeps wearing those 1000 dollar suits;)

I have no idea about Tomlin wanting Willis nor do I know if he gets final say but curious who you think would have overruled him?

Some were saying Pickett was taken because of Marino. I have trouble believing that entered the organizations thought process.

    Colbert.

Numerous articles before and after that draft that indicated the following:
    • Colbert thought Ozzie Newsome did the coolest thing that a GM could ever do. Built one contender around Flacco. Set up the franchise to build another contender around Jackson and then retired.
    • Colbert was specifically given a "lame duck" draft for him to pick a QB. Cement his legacy. Then retire. He got 2 out of 3.
    • There are numerous images and stray comments floating around the internet that make it seem like Tomlin thought Willis was super neat-o and that Pickett was the guy someone else picked.
Again....I have no idea what actually happened. But I think that Willis was Tomlin's guy and Pickett was Colbert's guy. That is not to say that they then didn't hash it out and come to a consensus. Numerous interviews indicate that is how the "big" decisions got done - Tomlin/Colbert/Rooney hashed it out. So I am not trying to pass the buck on the Pickett selection. I just think that the Steelers have a track record of revisiting draft prospects they liked in FA. And Tomlin liked Willis.

Or that supposed interest in Willis was just a smokescreen, we had people saying this year the Steelers were interested in Shedeur Sanders.

    It totally could be.

I have thought more than once over his tenure with the Steelers that there are guys that Tomlin likes a great deal as prospects that the Steelers are not able to or choose not to draft. I think Tomlin really liked Willis as a person and a prospect. I don't know any more than anyone else whether or not that it is true. I have just always believed that if it was up to Tomlin he likely would've went with Willis.

Tomlin has said that they dont just scout guys for the draft, they scout them for when they become available at a later date too. Maybe that will be Willis. Im sure they knew Willis needed a lot of developing and now he will be available next season.
