I have a saying . Three times in a row is not a fluke. And in these three games Cook faced a good DE, a pro bowl DE, and a future hall of fame DE. All three men are in their primes. As such Cook not only started three games at Left Tackle, he played the elite competition.

Currently signed until after the 2026 season ends. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite Steelers.

Tomlin is starting Cook, not from his good judgment, not from watching Cook play in camp, the pre season and the regular season practices, but because injuries have hit the players in front of him. Tomlin and his hires at OC and OL coach have some explaining to do as to why they did not recognize such a talent sooner.

What makes Cook so good? Well, I think he is a smart player. He moves his feet well, sticks to his man well, and may have elite grip strength. He seems to play the angles of blocking well, knows how to use his arms and when to anchor. Do I think he is a star player? No, but I think he is a good starting left tackle.

    And that is most welcome.

Don't underestimate the mental part. Drive. He has gotten his chance and he is giving it his all. He is playing himself into a starting spot for next year. If not with us, with someone else. He is on a 2 year minimum pay contract right now.

And next season he will be back on the bench behind Broderick Jones.

I don't know how good he is, but at least with Cook I see technique... Broderick Jones not so much.

    He ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells,
    Don't see lights a-flashin'
    Plays by sense of smell.

    Who's deaf, dumb and blind?

Smell is the least of the senses when it comes to football. But we once had a player who really smelled bad. A backup type. We joked about playing him at Right Guard. And when it was garbage time, we did just that. Very high school like and mean spirited. But our center was a " Richard " type of bully so... he had to deal with it. So did the Defensive tackles. Anything to give the men an edge...

I say the Who is almost as talented as Led Zeppelin. I like their songwriting ability a tad better.

Many years ago Notre Dame had an OL who only spoke Polish. The center would translate the play into Polish when they lined up.

One game they were getting killed.

Turns out one of the DL spoke Polish.

Don't act like Cook didn't have help against Garrett.

    Come on
Garrett was so scared of Cook he went to other side to get away from him a lot.

Not to mention that (per Next Gen Stats) Rodgers used his fastest time to throw this season, ranging from 2.02 to 2.39 seconds. Much lower than the 2.61 seconds in their first meeting, and his 2.59 season average.

I think Cook has been pretty solid over there, though.
