I'm going to be killed for bringing this up, but that's ok, we're all friends here in the end.

Right now, you'd have to say (gulp) that the Steelers are the weakest of Pittsburgh's 3 sports teams (ok, let's say the least good).

Assuming that is true, when was the last time this happened? I'd say 1991 or 1992.

jimmy, as far as last year maybe, but I think they will be quite strong this year if the injury bug stays away. some growing pains possibly, but we have a lot of talent to work with.

the pirates are playing pretty good, but they always do up to this point in the season. they're problems start after the all-star break it seems every year.

as for the pens, they had a good year, but that last series was ugly.

i'd like to see all 3 finish the job and Pittsburgh could then again be the city of champions. they have the teams to do it , but need to finish.

I'm pulling for the days when you could watch a Steelers game then a pirates playoff game and cap off the night with a pens game. Oh those were the days.

The Pens were a HUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEE disappointment during the playoffs. By far the most talented team the Pens have had since 1992 but they failed to score more than 2 goals in their series with Boston despite the overwheming offensive power that they wre capable of.

The Pirates are looking promising but like another poster said the second half of the season will tell more. I hope for more winning but it won't be easy. The division is very much up for grabs. with Cincy and St. Louie right there in the mix.

The Steelers will have their hands full as well with the AFC North being probably one of the toughest divisions again.

I wish nothing more than 3 Championships though to smack down the rest of the cities out there.

One thing we can be happy about though is there is currently alot of great sports being played at the confluence of the three rivers right now.

GO BUCS! GO STEELERS! GO PENS!

Nooo, Jimmy! You come out of hibernation to bring this topic up??!! ;)

Just messin' with you. It's actually pretty interesting and I guess we could say based on last year, this hypothesis may be true. However, I'm going to wait until this season plays out before I buy in.

We shall see, as previous posters have commented about the Pirates and Pens, there comments are right on. The Steelers I hope can regain their magic.
We will need #7 to win us some games(has to play SUPER)to be play off eligible. The Bengals have supplanted us and the Ravens as the team to beat in the AFC north. Its amazing what picking high in the draft, over the years and doing it well can do for your roster. They have lots of talent. Whether they can mesh that talent is a another thing.

    I dunno, Jimmy.

I mean, the Riverhounds are looking ok this year.

And the Harlequins will no doubt do what they do, but doubt they'll repeat the successes of '99 and '04.

But are the Steelers the weakest of the three? I think we'll still probably outperform them.

I have to be honest. I dont follow either hockey nor ball but last time I heard the pirates still sucked.. Maybe they are having a good year?
