Should we start the young guys in the season finale.....
With our playoff seeding not likely to change, it's high time to see what we have for the future.....
Start Will Howard and Kaleb Johnson .. ..
Feature Roman Wilson...... let's see what the young guys can actually do given the opportunity so we can gameplan for the future

I don't think we would use that one game vs probably the Ravens JV squad for that purpose exactly. We may let guys rest that game to be better prepared to play the 5th seed the following week.

It's sort of the same question, does having a bye help with rest, or hurt momentum? My opinion is, the guys that are hurt will probably get fewer snaps in a meaningless game already. Guys we may need to lean on at some point in the playoffs, but haven't played much, may get more snaps in same said game.

Should Pittsburgh beat the likes of Cleveland, I would elect to keep Aaron Rodgers and the Offense in for a series or two. After that, start the likes of Will Howard and Kaleb Johnson the rest of the way. Both do need the extended play time but Howard is in dire need of it.

Best to see what the team has in him.

Howard is not in dire need of it. He can be evaluated in training camp next year. If we rest Rogers against Baltimore Rudolph will get the snaps in case we need him in the playoffs.

If we’ve clinched, give the vets some playing time in the last week and give the younger guys who havent played some minutes in the 2nd half. Yeah, give will howard the second half.

I said "dire need" as the the final game could be a good chance to see what Will can do in real time game action. Team needs to figure out what they have in him given how he was injured throughout the entire preseason.

My question is do we even play all the starters if Ravens lose tonight? Do we gain any seeding advantage after division is won by winning more games? I'm not up on all the seeding scenarios.

The only way the Steelers could move up to the #3 seed is:
    Steelers win out
    AND
Jags AND Texans both lose out.

As far as starters... Rodgers starts and plays only the 1st half and Rudolph the 2nd half vs the Browns. Rudolph starts and plays only the 1st half and Howard plays the 2nd half vs the Ravens.

I'm guessing should the Packers help us (they owe us for that SB loss) Rodgers will play first half with strict orders to not to take chances. If he is rushed throw ball anywhere. He cannot get injured. Just hand off 3 times.

Would I like to see a 11-6 or 10-7 record, yes, but 9-8 gets us same thing so please don't put Mason in. We know what he is capable of. Let Howard have at it for 6 Qtrs.

Now Ravens win tonight I have faith AR gets it done with the cards he has to play with.

Yes. Their 1st playoff game is guaranteed to be a home game... even the #1 seed coming off the bye

Always start the first team and build a quick two score lead, then begin the substitutions. Do not put in Freddy Mercury until the Browns roll over sometime in the second half. They are caught in a landslide, no escape from reality.

The only guy im interested in seeing play is Howard, alot of people seem high on him but my expectations are tempered by the fact that hes a 6th rounder. Still seeing how well he does in real action this year will help chart the steelers course for a Qb in 26.

and thats only after weve solidified our playoff seeding and AR has got his warm up series’s in.

If the Ravens lose tonight, sit every starter with any kind of injury. Give Herbig another week of rest, for example. Maybe sit Ramsey rather than have him play in a weakened state after being sick.

I would sit Rodgers tomorrow if it is meaningless, then play him a little against the Ravens to kick off any rust before the playoffs.

    If we clinch this week:

Start our starters next week, play them for at least a quarter of, then start folding in backups here and there through the rest of the game to sharpen them (just in case).

The goal is to best position ourselves for postseason competition.

I would like to see them at the very least treat the last game like a preseason game, splitting time between Rudolph and Howard with Johnson getting the bulk of the carries. Provided the division is wrapped up. Obviously you don't want the offense rusty but with Rodgers having wrist issues, one hit could put him out of the game and the playoffs. On defense, I'm resting anyone with any nagging injuries and giving Black and the other back ups more snaps.

So much for that. Don't even care what they do next week at this moment. Just beat the damn Browns and get in the dance.
