Victory Monday is always a good thing to celebrate no doubt. Having a good Victory Monday while having the Rookies perform well?! That is even better. For Derrick Harmon and Steelers, he is rounding well into form with each passing snap of each passing game. There are still some teaching moments he will learn but his overall work in 2025 has been nothing short of incredible.

Ross McCorkle of Steelers Depot has a great breakdown of how well Derrick Harmon played. More of that can be found in the link here. Overall and, even before this season started, one of the biggest reasons for optimism that I had with the Steelers was who they selected in the 2025; a player who easily was a Top 10 Player coming out of Oregon. Injury issues or not, Derrick was one of the best overall players in his class.

While he has had the injury bug follow him a bit in his Rookie Season, when he has been out there for Pittsburgh, he has been nothing short of what I believed he could be; an instant impact player. Very seldom do NFL Drafts have such talents at either IDL or IOL. The 2025 NFL Draft featured an unusual amount of them. Best of them were Kenneth Grant from Michigan, Tyler Booker from Alabama, Walter Nolen from Ole Miss, the aforementioned Derrick Harmon from Oregon, Grey Zabel from North Dakota State, Donovan Jackson from Ohio State and Tyleik Williams who is also from Ohio State. Best of the best for their Rookie Seasons though were Harmon, Zabel, Booker, Jackson prior to his injury and at times Tyleik.

Overall, while he hasn't always been available, Derrick Harmon has proven that not only does he belong in the NFL but also could be well on his way to being one of the elite at the position health permitting. Sky truly is the limit for him and I truly believe that, despite the tremendous showcasing against Detroit, we still have not even yet touched nor seen the very tip of his potential.

We are spoiled a bit by ironman Heyward and his elite injury record. Those kinds of players are extremely rare, doubly so for the position they play. If the Steelers can find another DL to pair with Harmon then they are set for the next decade. Benton is not the player they were hoping for. Black is TBD.

I think Benton is better playing outside of the guard than inside, and better at penetrating 1-gap than holding two. Maybe not the player we were hoping for, but solid when he isn’t being asked to occupy two guys on the interior O line.

I only had time to watch maybe the first 1/3rd, but the breakdown does show how solid Harmon already is. It’s also a good tape to use for explaining how a defensive lineman can dominate an opponent but put up a zero stat line. Many fans get preoccupied with individual stats.

Which is why I always thought that Aaron Smith, and C. Hampton should have been at least thought of in the HOF. The scheme wasn't designed for personal achievements, and they did it better than anyone during their time

Well... Cameron Heyward is a HOF DT. By the amount of accolades he has earned, such players are very seldom as it is. Given how heavily tilted the game is Offensively?! It gets even harder.

Among the current group of IDLs currently playing?! I'd give the likes of Jalen Carter, Quinnen Williams and Jeffrey Simmons the best odds to be enshrined in someday. Chris Jones doesn't make it for me because he is already either there or is very damn close.
