So it’s pretty clear a Baltimore loss on Saturday at Green Bay or we beat Cleveland Sunday and we win the division.

Is it possible for us to still get the 3 seed against Jacksonville or is the 4 seed as high as we can get?

Don't think it's possible as the top 3 seeds all have better/unreachable records than us.

The only way the Steelers can move up to the #3 seed is If the Steelers win out and the Jaguars lose out. This would create a tie with a Jaguars in overall record, and it would give the #3 seed to the Steelers on conference record 9-3 to 8-4

And this is if the texans don't win their final 2 games...So this is very unlikely. The Jaguars also face the titans in their final game(the colts for their other game)

We could also be the #2 seed but that would take the extremely unlikely scenario of the Jags losing to the Colts and Titans and the Patriots losing to the Dolphins and Jets.
Never mind about the #2 seed. I got burned again by AI. We can't catch the Patriots they already have 12 wins

I forgot about the Texans. But in the above scenario, if Texans only beat the Colts on w18. Texans would win that division with a better division record.. H2H was a split.
This would also create an overall tie between the Texans and the Steelers. I've calculated it out to the point, that I know it would, at least, go to common games, If there was a minimum of four. It still may go past that to SOS or SOV. I don't feel like calculating it out because all this is beyond realistic.

I love calculating out the mathematical possibilities. Numbers don't have opinions

If Baltimore losses Saturday I wonder how we approach the last two games? You want to be rested but you also want to continue playing good ball and not be Rusty.

If it were me, I would have the starting units play the first half to stay sharp and get some work. The second half I'd let the starting units (where possible) sit and give other players some game action.

If I were Tomlin and we clinched before playing the Browns, I would rest all the old guys against them.

For the home finale against Rats, I would have everybody in until halftime, then rest the seniors. Got to think about the fans who show up too and I don`t like the idea of a full two weeks off without playing, even for the seniors.

Right now we play the Chargers at home in the wild card round, if we win that then it isn't inconceivable that we have a second home game. Right now the #7 and #6 seeds are the Texans and Bills it is very possible that they defeat the Patriots and Jaguars respectively. Meaning the division round could have us at home playing the Bills and first seed Broncos playing the Texans.

Nah, remember in 2020 Tomlin rested some vets in the season finale and they played like crap in the playoff loss to the Browns IIRC.

No, if the Ravens lose to Green Bay on Saturday then I think the Steelers will clinch the division.

With DK suspended 2 games if the Ravens beat GB Saturday things could get real concerning. Who will even be at QB for GB?

‘if we seal the AFC North before the Ravens game, I would sit all 22 starters and only play the practice squad and have them go both ways (O & D). If that doesn’t give us enough players I would quote Coach Norman Dale and say “My Team is on the court”

I’d treat the Cleveland game like a preseason game, but the one where starters play. Give them a half or so. You don’t want them squandering the momentum. I probably play most starters a quarter or a couple drives and then call in the backups for Baltimore. Rest fully the older vets.

There is a fine line between rest and rust, and I’d hate to see us lose momentum by over resting players.

We don’t know yet. Seems likely that Love comes back but you never know.

If we can’t beat Cleveland with a rookie QB, no Judkins, nothing to play for… then we simply don’t deserve the playoffs. We’re playing well and the Browns are trash. Just get it done.
