Of course we will. He’s our best WR by a ton, and really our only WR that other teams have to fear at all. I get that you’re going to bald early due to the Pickens trade, but he’s still a nice player. We will still need to add talent to the WR room, but yeah. We will miss him.

no there was a quote in another thread, not sure if that’s real now, but it swears he just called him DeKaylin Zecharius "DK" Metcalf.

Lamar did too, but they considered it a retaliation since the fan tapped his helmet (though it wasn’t a hit or anything). Past precendent says no suspension and a heavy fine, but if they wanted to give him a game they could.

Even if that's how it's played out, still you can't swing on someone for saying that.

At no point did I justify his actions. Simply offered my light hearted opinion on what I think will happen.

We may never know. But think of the sequence of events here according to the one account I read:

    1. Self professed biggest Lions fan goes to game with a prop to get a specific Steelers player’s attention.
    2. Unclear but I think DK goes over and signs something. I’m not clear about this part at all.
    3. Fan claims all he said was his full name thing. But then goes on to say it doesn’t matter what he said because it’s all on video.

To me it seems like a dude who went to the stadium determined to participate and to bait Metcalf. I’ve got no problem believing this dude would’ve said anything to provoke a response.

Is there a replay available? I thought I saw he swatted open hand and whiffed, not a punch.

From the video what Jackson did was worse and no suspension

I still left my vote at one game because of how inconsistent the nfl is

    1 game and a fine of 75k.

He did not actually hit flesh, just the wig (or bad hair). Kind of jabbed his fingers up, but the fan jerked up so DK missed but the intent was there.

And as my wife just pointed out to me, that also goes by another name. Assault. He could possibly face legal issues outside of the NFL. That could lead to a much worse penalty from the NFL. They could take a wait and see attitude where he is out pending resolution of the court case.

Here is a 6 second video of the interaction.

I read it took place before the game..If a fan can get in you head and you haven't hit the field yet, then you don't belong out there

Huge difference, that is not a fan. Who here has not gone to a game and yelled at a player???

DK went over to the stands to get at that fan and then took a punch at him. He wasn't walking toward an exit.

Why didn't anyone see DK leaving the Bench and go over and yell "Hey DK where are you going"?

I guessed 2 games. Because that's the worst case for us IMO.

Here's what I got from AI re: precedent on hitting fans. Maybe suggests that I'm being too pessimistic. But the fan didn't initiate contact, so I don't know if the Jackson incident matters here.

The Debo thing won't matter here either.

No matter what the fan said, DK has to be less stupid than this IMO.

Yes, there are precedents, most recently the
DK Metcalf incident (December 2025) where he swung at a fan, leading to potential league discipline, and the earlier Lamar Jackson (September 2025) shove, where Jackson wasn't punished as the fan initiated contact, showing the NFL considers provocation, though player-initiated contact usually results in fines or suspensions, setting precedents for action against players.
Recent Incident (DK Metcalf - December 2025):

    • What Happened: Steelers WR DK Metcalf appeared to punch or swipe at a Detroit Lions fan leaning over the railing at Ford Field.
    • Fan's Claim: The fan, Ryan Kennedy, said he called Metcalf by his full name, "DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf," which provoked Metcalf to grab him and throw a punch.
    • League Response: The NFL is reviewing the video and will likely discipline Metcalf, with precedent suggesting fines, but potential for stronger action.
Previous Precedent (Lamar Jackson - September 2025):
    • What Happened: Ravens QB Lamar Jackson shoved a Buffalo Bills fan who hit him.
    • Outcome: Jackson wasn't punished because the fan initiated contact and was banned from stadiums for life, establishing a precedent where fan-provocation can mitigate player penalties.
    Key Takeaways on Precedent:
    • Player-Initiated Contact: If a player starts the physical interaction (like Metcalf), they face significant league discipline (fines, suspensions).
    • Fan-Initiated Contact: If a fan touches or provokes a player first (like Jackson), the player may be excused, but the fan faces severe consequences (lifetime bans).
    • Context Matters: The NFL reviews these incidents closely, considering if the player was provoked and if they reciprocated appropriately or overreacted.

Something is wrong with DK. Dude has the thinnest skin in the game. Always getting in altercations after the whistle and now on the sideline.

I initially thought what Lamar did was more erroneous

But based on your information I expect a fine and suspension

I didn't see the Jackson thing when it happened...not sure how I missed it.
