My thoughts on reg season wk 16

1. That may very well be the craziest ending I've ever seen

2. The defensive collapse in the 4th quarter was mind blowing

3. The defense before the 4th quarter was damn near vintage

4. Joey Porter Jr has officially developed into a lock down CB

5. I've been waiting for this version of Jaylen Warren to show up for a while

6. DK Metcalf needs to get his head on straight..... he had no business going towards that fan in the first place.... he'll probably not be available for the Browns

7. Darnell Washington needs to realize that no one can tackle him, so they'll be going for the ball..... I hope he got Kyle Dugger a really good Christmas present for bailing him out

8. Kenneth Gainwell's td was otherworldly

9. I'm really liking Dylan Cook..... he had some early hiccups with Aiden Hutchinson, but never had his name called again after

10. Holding one of the best running teams in the league to 15 yds, while running for 230 yds ourselves was highly impressive

#9. After a sack and a couple of early pressures, Hutchinson was neutralized. Dylan Cook looks solid at left tackle.

Was really looking forward to this post as usual.

No one picked the Steelers to win this game. They were playing against a desperate team, on the road, against one of the best offenses in the NFL, with a depleted defense and offensive line.

That was huge, Jerry, huge!

This remains as one of the stupidest seasons in my 50+ years watching this team. I suspect more stupid is yet to come.

And, another example of the cursed existence of the Detroit Lions. We just got to watch this, their fans have lived it since 1957.

 

Amazing how the coaching staff has changed, or why it took so long. Tomlin going for it on 4th down, A Smith drawing up some creative plays, Austin bringing back the zone blitz. Were a little less predictable

 

For around 3 minutes after the game no one knew who won. Never saw that before.

 

I’m not sure where to start. Just now catching my breath 20 minutes later.

 

For number 9, Al-Quadin Muhammad took him to the wood chipper just about every play. Cook was late to his landmarks when engaging; doubly so with his inside punch to Muhammad's chest. Gonna have to wait for the All 22 to come out but I'd consider that performance within the expectations of a backup swing tackle.

 

Yeah, Go Pats, ugh.

104-0-1 now when they are up by 12 points in the fourth quarter in the Tomlin era!

 

Miller had a key and great catch on the sideline - then caught 2 more balls.

 

If our receivers and backs quit going out of bounds and Rodgers didn't throw that incomplete pass, that last Detroit drive would have never happened.

Drop picks, clock management, and soft defense at the end are the things that need to be tightened up before the playoffs.

Patriots owe us a Christmas present tonight!

It was 22:17 in the fourth and I stepped out to smoke. When I came back it was 29:24.

 

None of us are pat fans. We're just pulling for Ravens to lose a game.

4rth Quarter collapse by the D again is concerning

Arod taking unnecessary TOs. Between him n Tomlin they have nearly 4 decades of experience, what gives? Not just this game.

Big game for Highsmith too with TJ down.

 

OL coach deserves some major props

OC needs to be aware of when quick calls are needed due to a questionable catch, drop etc.

Holy moly we won without Watt

Defense played great against a talented and desperate team. It was never going to be easy

Veteran WRs are making a big difference. I wonder if Allen Lazard is on the way.

 

This D has played better without TJ the past couple weeks.

 

Not sure if Steelers started playing a prevent or Detroit just started stringing things together and building confidence. Seemed as if the Steelers were still playing tight. Quite a few close interceptions that could have made it a possible three score game.

 

After Boswell missed that FG my heart was racing on that Lions last drive.

 

I have not rewatched game yet but intend on doing so. What I think I saw was the right side of our O-line was worse then left but like I said that was just the eye test. Need to rewatch.
