So is that what it takes to light a fire under him? Some of us been screaming it for years. I don’t particular want him fired today but thought I’d start this thread before kick off tomorrow just so he gets fired up again. Now if he lays an egg then I’ll be serious again which I have been for several years. Prove us wrong again Mike and go win a SB with the BNG!

Well he certainly does not have the team to win a SB. I'll be happy with making Playoffs and showing up for round 1.

This. Steelers simply don't have the talent yet to win a Super Bowl.... on the DL and OL. Also need a legit #2 WR. Winning a playoff game in an AFC that is wide open this year with no dominant teams other than the Bills.... would be a start. But Steelers are long overdue for a new HC. I hiope Popcorn steps down after the season.

Harmon is realistically the only DL that is starting caliber going forward. Need a NT and another DT to with Harmon. Not impressed with Black, Benton and Heyward should retire after this year. Steelers need to replace Semeolu and LT needs to be shored up. I don't see any upgrade with Jones over Moore.

Well, we can lay an egg today in Detroit and still be assured of winning the division with wins in the last 2 games. This game means everything to Detroit as they are currently on the outside looking in for a playoff spot. If we win, it will definitely have me feeling optimistic. If we lose…. Meh, on to next week.

With or without us the AFC Playoffs should be great to follow. IMO, at present moment I'd say 5 teams have a shot. Pats, Broncos, Jaguars, Texans and Bills. Winner of AFCN and NFCS will be fodder for better teams.

    Two things though

If we win today it puts a lot of pressure on Baltimore to go 2-0 vs NE and GB. I simply don’t think they are good enough this year to do that. I really wouldn’t love a week 18 win or out scenario needing to sweep a division rival. If Lamar is somewhat healthy I think we lose.

Winning a game vs Detroit keeps momentum going and maybe changes the narrative on this team heading into the playoffs. A loss and we are trending the same way as we always do heading in.

Since both of my fantasy playoff opponents have him on their roster, they only get a meh from me if they shut Gibbs down in the process.

    Otherwise 'meh' escalates to 'wtf'.

Why would they lose? They just beat them in Baltimore. What am I missing. Baltimore isn't that good, nor are the steelers but - they didn't lose.

Yeah, when the fans chant fire tomlin and the news media is full of stories of Tomlin should go. So we won, had a couple good games. Now enter detroit against a non conference opponent, in a not desperate game for us. But winnable if we played our best. Based on Tomlin’s track record we lose this game and the season comes down to the last two games, win or go home, i expect nothing more from a tomlin team. This is his game to take the foot off the peddle a little. Noll wouldn't. But Tomlin will.

Hopefully next season is his last year.

Before today I would've thought Balt beating GB was an outside chance. Now without Love and Parsons - don't see how they lose.

Right. So many here have been claiming their clamoring initially initialized the beginning of the end.

Because it’s hard to beat a divisional rival both games. I’m also clarifying if Lamar is healthy as I don’t think he was the first time we played them.

    No.

It's just like fans deciding to wear their old Ward jersey or the new TJ jersey.

It doesn't make any difference to the outcome.

But it makes us feel like we're more important.

We won't even need the last two games.

We can't be eliminated before the Rats game at this point. Even if they win the next two and we lose the next two, we're down by one game going into the final. We win and we have the same record. But we win on the head-to-head.

I think the only way that last game doesn't matter if is we win one more than the Rats in the next 2 games.

So we win 2 and they win 1. Or we win 1 and they win 0.

Life would be a lot easier for us if we still won the tie breaker without the head to head (i.e. if we lose the final game). But I don't think that's possible at this point.

To me this game shows if we belong or not. At the very least it is important not to get embarrassed.

If this contest isnt close then I think we will just continue the playoff futility.

So I want this one big time.
