The offense has looked much better since Broderick Jones has got hurt. No constant blind side pressure means the qb can take more milliseconds looking down the field without being in a panic mode of getting sacked. Any time taken away from looking at the receiver and looking at the rush makes qb a lot more ineffective. Broderick Jones at this point has low ceiling and is a backup journeyman at best.

Again, money, and , or draft status has much to do with this on any team. We see this repeatedly throughout the NFL.

In a passing league, I’ll take the guy better at pass pro… I still think the run game relies more on the Guards and Center.

It's a contract year for Pierre. He's trying to get paid. What I seen from Jones so far, I'm not exercising his option so Cook has a chance to move up the depth chart.

Cook played very well. A diamond in the rough? We shall see.

Jones is going to start next season. 1st round and a trade up to get him will be the reason. Not saying his wasn't slightly improving but if Cook plays above the line(providing Peat Moss doesn't get the nod by Bags)he will be a solid piece to have.

Like others have stated a left guard has to be on tap next season.

    They will not trade Jones.

They most likely will not exercise the option on Jones but I could see them trying to extend him

I believe he was starting to show improvement

Jones isn't much better than Moore, IMHO. Steelers have been mediocre at LT since Villanueva left.

Fautanu has played well overall at RT. Steelers need to upgrade at Guard.

I have heard rumblings in the past that Jones might be better at guard, so maybe he could be an option there. This assumes they have found something in Cook, which is a very big assumption.

SIS rates Frazier as the #1 center in the NFL. Fautanu is the 5th best RT. McCormick as the 6th best RG.

None of this is good news for Meyers' potential firing at the end of the season.

I don't see how. I'd rank the OL in the lower 20's at best out of 32 teams.

Meyer should and probably will have his contract extended at the end of the season

He actually has done a very good job

I’ve said this for a while and now it’s becoming clear to others

Sub par running game. Steelers can't run the ball consistently. Warren and Gainwell have their moments, but overall... there are plenty of teams out-rushing the Steelers.... who have been known to run the ball better than most, since Harris and Bleier in the 70's.

Many factors can be associated to this, and not all have to do with the OL.
    1. The Rbs have a bit to do with this.
    2. The OL is still young as a unit, and has been improving.
    3. Factors in the game, and certain situations that pertain to keeping a drive alive so You can actually run more than 3 plays before punting.
    4. Blocking, and selling the play by other players other than the OL.
    5. Flags. How many times have we seen a good run brought back by a flag??
Hell I said last game we played the difference in the run game from the beginning to the end was the ability to keep drives alive, the completions in the passing game, and the lack of flags in the 2nd half.

Other teams have good runs called back due to penalties, too.

Like anything in the world, it's not that it happens, it's when it happens.
Also I like that out of all that you took one thing, when all of it was meant to be together, but was only listed to show all the things that affect it.

I think that factor is often overblown, especially when comparisons are made among teams. Fans fixate on a few big plays, such as Warren's run that was called back Monday night, not realizing that other teams likely have big plays called back in a similar fashion.
