Ok we know Woodley, Sackman, and Worilds are locked in so who wins the last spot. I'm going Robinson you don't keep a rookie OLB who doesn't play specials unless there's something there. Carter has never looked like a Steelers olb to me.

Whoever said they won't keep both.....they kept 5 last season.....
Carter is a very hard worker, and good on special teams and has a great attitude, but when it comes to actually playing the olb position, he's nothing more than a one dimensional speed rusher, and we all saw how much that was worth during the first few games last season. ... he has the work ethic to improve, but has he??......

Robinson, has a few extra moves in his arsenal, and will probably move ahead of carter on the depth chart, but at his current developmental stage, he's no more than a clone of worilds, and I'm not sure that's going to be enough in the long run......

I'm thinking, as I stated earlier, that we probably keep both agian, but carter will be the first to go in the long term

butler loves carters coverage ability. robinson will be the better pass rusher, i believe. i'm with b&gp that we keep 5. i think they keep 5 on the inside too.

i know sly was moved to outside full time. is he showing something there? can carter move inside with his coverage skills as a BU to timmons? there are some offseason acquisitions that could make some noise. mcfadden has been here but wilson is in his 4th year, rolle is in his 3rd or 4th, williams the draft pick, and the udfa kid is supposed to be decent. we know foote ,timmons and williams most likely make it. we may keep 2 others.

I think Rolle will be one of the others Ilb and that's interesting I wonder if carter could switch to the inside where he speed could be better used.

i do too. the things DLB was planning to do with spence last year could be used with rolle. he's a much better ILB then an OLB in a 4-3 like philly used him in. he's spence but a little heavier, but faster. not to mention some NFL starts under his belt.

i'm anxious to see mcfadden and kion wilson too.

the carter thing would be interesting. maybe sly takes off on the outside? who knows. he just could have been in the wrong spot. i hope one of them show enough to start over larry by midseason. we still need a backup for timmons though.

I have to give Foote props but I will be happy when someone can beat him out.

i want to mention another guy i forgot , terence garvin from west virginia. he's a pretty good LB. i'm not sure where he fits in this bunch, right now he's a cross between SS-OLB-ILB. active guy though for the mountaineers. he made bad things happen to the offense.

we have a ton of potential in here and larry has served us well, but we need to find our future this year at ILB.

In my very very early 53 roster prediction I have us keeping both Carter and Robinson. On the outside looking in it may appear its a battle between Carter & Robinson with us keeping only one but I believe that is not the case. Here's my thought process I put up for debate:

    1) We will keep 5 OLBer especially since James is gone and Woodley's injury history.
    2) Woodley is the most experienced OLBer we have. Worilds is a 4 year guy but with limited reps. Carter is next as a 3year guy also with limited reps. Robinson a 2year guy and Jones being a rookie will be lucky to see 50 snaps this entire year.
    3) The true camp battle be will between Carter & Sly ( the newest OLB ).
    4) We keep 5 OLB- Woodley,Worilds, J. Jones, Robinson, and either (of the two struggling and dissappointing LBers) Carter or S. Stevenson.
