Wouldnt that logic lead to another 8-8?

It's a relative scale. Worse was 8-8. Better is 14-2. Maybe cautiously optimistic equates to 11-5?

Lets see, NE, Denver, Houston, Indy,Cincy, that leaves 1 playoff spot
available to Steelers, Ravens, Dolphins,KC? I guess we have just as good as chance
as anybody. Will 9-7 make the playoffs?

I wouldn't count on 9-7. Some of the 7 may cost the tie breaker.

I am not sure how Wardismvp puts those teams as in already, but okay we now have a shot at 1 spot?

Let me say that IMO, we are going to take a big jump assuming we stay relatively healthy. Our D is basically the same D as last year with 3 changes. We have replaced Keenan Lewis with Cortez Allen. We replaced Hampton with McLendon. We replaced Harrison with Worilds. The thing is, we only had Woodley healthy for a few games. Troy, a LARGE difference maker for this team, only played 7 games. Harrison was never up to speed. This D IMO will once again be #1 overall, but I expect to slide back just a little against the pass, but dominate against the run...finally. This D will also create a bunch more turnovers. I firmly believe that once we get pressure on the QB, the TOs will happen and we will reap the benefits.

On offense, this team is about to take a jump. What changes have we made that aren't positive. 1...we lost Wallace and replaced him with Sanders. The benefit is though that Sanders will want to show that he can be a #1....Wallace wanted to not get hurt. The Oline has been upgraded simply due to health and the removal of Colon from the line. The RB position is basically the same. Last year it was Dwyer, Redman, Rainey and Batch. As of right now it is Dwyer, Redman, Bell, and Batch with Stevens-Howling looking to unseat anyone but Bell. Adding Spaeth makes our TE position stronger in replace of the waste of a roster spot in Pope.

The team last year was the 2 INT games by Ben where we lost on FGs away from making the playoffs instead of the Bungles. The Ravens are going to take a step back due to losing some of that leadership on D as well as some playmakers. I see this team as probably 11-5. That will be good enough to make the playoffs, even ahead of some of those teams you see Wardismvp mention. I think we have a SHOT at home field through the playoffs with at least a 1st round bye and home game.

Yeah, I think 2 of his picks are weak bets and 3 are strong. Denver, NE and Houston most likely will have good seasons but Colts and Bengals are anything but a lock. In fact, I don't think the Colts do as well as last season, I think they miss the playoffs this year, they do have Luck so that's a huge plus but think they have a little bit of a let down this season, think they over achieved last year. The Bengals will be competitive but I don't think they are so good that they are a lock either. Besides, like you said, I have us going no worse then 11-5 but think we will be 12-4.

I will admit I am still in mourning about the Pens losing to Boston and havent thought too much about football...yet. However, I will say I am surprised that Scherleth has us returing to the playoffs simply because I feel like he NEVER picks us (and he is usually right). As far as the OL is concerned, I feel like we never got a chance to see what they could do as a unit simply because of the amount of injuries so I am cautiously optimistic about how they will perform this season. :smiley1:

Injuries can derail a season, quickly, but the injury to Ben was, by far, the worse. If he was healthy all last season we would have went deep into the playoffs, even with the other injuries. As Ben goes, our season goes! Assuming Ben stays healthy, we are contenders.

NE, Indy and Denver are literally a QB injury away from 8-8 or worse. Dolphins? Really? Cincinnati is nowhere near a lock. Their QB has weapons around him, but he hasn't shown that he's capable of making the best use of anyone but Green. I think we have a great shot as long as we stay healthy and play like we mean it.

Heck, I think 9-7 MIGHT win the AFC North, with tie-breakers. It is going to be a slugfest.

Indeed, predictions are made with an "all things being equal" approach. But we all know that injuries and Lady Luck play a significant role in who gets to the final Sunday of the year. I have to think that maybe, just maybe, the Steelers can get through a season without so many injuries. They're due. If that happens, they'll win the division.

Isn't everybody A QB injury? I mistakenly worded my original thread wrong, but I am confident of the teams I selected to be in the running for playoff spots. If you people can give me some other teams I would be happy to debate you on these teams.

We are going to win the division this year. Baltimore is overrated. We should have beat them twice last year. Cincinnati is neurotic and Cleveland is pathetic.

Nine of the starters from that Super Bowl roster are gone. Nine. That's pretty significant.

I think Baltimore will be lucky to finish 2nd, do you really think they are so good that they can avoid the SB slump that has effected just about every team in the last decade? It's incredibly hard with every team gunning for you, Baltimore will be the one closer to 9-7.

Cinci are by far the team to watch in the North. I agree, Baltimore will struggle. It must be their turn to get all the injuries, at any rate.

Colts aren't in the playoffs. Luck has a good year but he has a new OC and there is tape on him now. It changes a lot of things.

As long as we can block Silverback twice a year, we`re in the hunt!!!
I think McClendon is an upgrade, not sure what is gonna happen in the D secondary, but I have faith..
    And we have Ben...
    Nobody else does... `Nuff said...LOL!:herewego!:

I respectfully disagree, we will beat the Ratbirds X2 split with the Bungles, each will win at home, sweep Cleveland and take the division. Playoffs will be tough because solely because of what TTF spoke of the 9 starters gone from the Super Bowl teams. We will see!!!
