Deny his record. (You might have missed what I said about other coaches failing to advance to the next level and getting fired)
None of the talking heads will agree with you.
Some even say that he wins despite subpar players being supplied.
Even with his team failing this year as bad as it has, the so-called experts think he will get hired right away.
I don't agree with all, and I am not looking to save his job. I think it is time (past time) to pull the plug.
I think you're right in general but not a clairvoyant.

The modern era is one of my talking points, he has failed to grasp Next Gen stats analysis. He has failed to keep his staff up to date. He probably has too much say in player acquisition.

This isn't about Colbert, that boat sailed.

The issue for Khan is Tomlin last throws, aging team and having to find past-prime bargains to try and hope to plug the dam with bubble gum.

Once the rebuilding is embraced, he can stop the bargain-bin FA shopping and go do what Weidl and he do well, drafting players and not prospects.

correct - Khan has to cow tow to Tomlin's weakness' which are too numerous to count.

we are a one big clusterF - that is for sure.

the mouth breathers all are at home today, from this big mouth board. and they should stay there. there is NO DEFENSE for what we have become.

    What could have been

When Bill Cowher retired after the 2006 season, he left the Steelers with a rare head coaching vacancy after 15 years of stability.
The team did initially look inward, considering Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm, both long-time assistants under Cowher.
Whisenhunt was seen as the frontrunner but accepted the Arizona Cardinals’ head coaching job before Pittsburgh made its final decision.

    • Grimm was highly respected within the organization and interviewed multiple times. He never made head coach.
    • Ron Rivera, then Chicago’s defensive coordinator, was also interviewed but his availability was delayed due to the Bears’ playoff run. Ron coached the Panthers to a Super Bowl but his career ended badly in Carolina. He wound up with the Redskins and did start returning the football side to some respectability although he was not really a good coach. I think we dodged a bullet there.
    • Mike Tomlin, at the time the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, impressed ownership with his leadership style and defensive philosophy. Tomlin goes on to have 18 consecutive winning seasons.
    So, why Tomlin Was Chosen?
    • Dan Rooney and Art Rooney II valued Tomlin’s presence, communication skills, and ability to command respect despite being only 34 years old.
    • His defensive background aligned with the Steelers’ identity, and his interview reportedly stood out for clarity and confidence.
    • While the Rooney Rule (requiring minority candidates to be interviewed) ensured Tomlin got a chance, the Steelers emphasized that he was hired because he was the best fit, not just to satisfy the rule.
None of the guys they considered had much success. So going after a new coach is a little bit of a scary proposition.
I would imagine they follow the blueprint and go with another young coach, which is good.
But I really think they try to get him to finish out his current contract and still begrudgingly let him go, maybe retain him as an advisor as they did Noll, which again is something I would not want.

I feel like they should look at a guy like Kingsbury and find a stud defensive coordinator.
I know there are several options out there.

It is daunting. Most coaching hires don't work out. However, if we hang on to one that isn't working out, then we potentially miss on the next guy. Tomlin was a relative unknown before he was hired as a one year DC. Cowher was a 3 year DC. Both were young and hungry.

I think we need a clean break. Fire him, trade him, or let him resign... We can still be appreciative for what he brought us in the past despite wanting him gone asap for what he's brought us recently. We aren't getting better... we're getting worse. Now is the time. We can't let a desperate Tomlin make meaningful decisions on draft day (particularly at the QB position) when there is zero guarantee that he will be here after this contract. End it.

My personal opinion is that we stick with the young guy route. Give them the leeway of a solid 4-5 years and see what happens. There are a lot of quality names that are 42 and younger... Jesse Minter (DC Chargers), Klint Kubiak (OC Seahawks), Joe Brady (OC Bills), Mike Kafka (OC/Intierim HC Giants), Marcus Freeman (HC Notre Dame), Mike LaFleur (OC Rams), Chris Shula (DC Rams), Davis Webb (QB Coach/Pass Coord Broncos), Thomas Brown (Pass Coord/TE Coach, New England).

Perspective; Dan Campbell was all the rage as a rising HC last season. This year they have one more win than the Steelers and a roster that can run circles around the Steelers.
The change? The brains of the team left and has turned around a perennial losing franchise. One guy can make all the difference.

We have invested in offensive and defensive line…what have the OL and DL coaches done….what late/mid rounders have they coached up since they got here???!!!

I would send Pat Meyer and Karl Dunbar both packing. This team is soft in the trenches.

I like those suggestions. Davis Webb is an interesting name, as I have read that people within the Broncos, including Sean Payton, think so highly of him and view him as a future head coach in the league.

There are a lot of options... just have to pick the right one for the job. And yes, the feeling among the Broncos staff is that it is only a matter of time/opportunity before Davis Webb becomes an NFL head coach. He's young, but maybe its his time. Personally, I would prefer an offensive minded coach whoever it is. We are going to need to bring a young QB up to snuff in the next couple of years and I think a QB friendly offensive mind could be the right hire. Just my opinion though.
