For those of you who dont believe the Steelers can find another head coach, here's proof.

Identify an exceptional assistant that fits into your identity. We could have had this guy after Tomlin's 2023 failure. Now the Seahawks are Super Bowl contenders and the Steelers are a sloppy mess.

That has a lot more to do with how flexible Seattle's Organization is compared to Pittsburgh's.

Regardless, you are correct. For change to happen, the Owner has to see to it that it happens. AR II won't.

Ben Johnson was my first choice back in 2023,but McDonald would alsp been a good choice too....9-3 in his second year in Seattle

I'm not so sure about that. The Steelers will have no choice but to be flexible if a new HC is hired.

There's no point keeping the staff. Who is here that's worth keeping? A case could be made for Arthur Smith to stay. But Smith hasn't had enough success to be untouchable.

There is not a franchise QB in place. The roster is old. The next HC may very well have a blank slate to work with.

I am sure as Seattle showed Pete Carroll the door; his staff included.

I am not 100% sure if AR II will do the same in 2026.

Good of you to embrace that. Deuce is the problem. He sucks and it's been true for a very long time. Macdonald and Johnson were just the latest, painfully obvious choices. Hell, the bull**** around Tomlin has been so bad for so long that teams would have given us draft picks for him. Madness.

I don't understand why people keep thinking Rooney is going to pay Tomlin $40MM to not coach for us over the next few years.

It's not going to happen. No matter how much you ask for it.

    We CAN find another HC.

But we're not going to do it right after we signed Tomlin to a huge big money extension.

It will be YEARS before this is a legit option for the team.

Arthur Smith? The guy who just dialed up that marvelous jumbo package run up the middle on 4th and 2 after we got into the red zone on a hurry up passing drill? That Arthur Smith?

This Steelers coaching staff is (was in 23') far different than what was retained back in 2007. If Macdonald were to have been hired by the Steelers he would have been able to hire his own staff, exactly how he did in Seattle.

Just my opinion. There's no way to turn back time and find out. :hi:

I wouldn't keep Smith. Just speculating on anyone Art might want to retain.

Perhaps DMR III takes over in 2027.

That is wishful thinking on my part though. AR II may be advanced in his age but 73 still isn't old enough to warrant him to step down.

    My point exactly.

2027 will be it. Question is will AR II step down?! I doubt that very much.

Rodgers was clicking with the hurry up and looks like he was also calling his own plays. Even had a long pass in the middle of the field to Washington. Then Smith said hold my beer

I think this is more about an experienced QB looking good against a D after they get a big lead and move to something that's more prevent mode.
