Do we really not have a WR #2?

I watched the all 22 from the Chicago game, assuming I'd see a lot of missed open targets. There were a few - a couple of bad deep balls, DK was open across the middle once and Smith looked open down the middle once. Probably missed a couple others. Other than that, everyone was covered. Mason did not have much to throw to. I don't know if its the plays or the talent, but guys are not getting open and our passing game does not look like a decent NFL passing game.

Very rare for guys to be open all game. When they are open a QB has to take advantage. That's what loosens up a defense. Steelers QBs are so risk averse it impacts the offense.

Listening to all the reviews of the passing game and it seems everyone was saying that Wilson was open a lot against the Bears. That last throw to DK that was batted down he was wide open down the right sideline with his hand in the air. MR just wasn't seeing him or didn't progress through his reads well.

People you have to ask yourself why other teams with similar
skill set receivers can get open running freely, well ours
Are blanketed by mediocre defenders. Route tree design.?

It is our coaching, and our Qb who doesn't like to throw over the middle, and our WR1 who is limited in his route tree AND our coaching again who does not use Wilson to his potential.

Oh yeah our pass protection is iffy too.

If you don’t hit the shots you do take, defense just stops responding to it.

it’s the story of the last few seasons. Defense does not have to defend the entire field against the Steelers passing offense. QBs have, each in their own way, not been able to threaten all areas of the field.

that’s why it’s so hard to get free running receivers for the Steelers offense. Defense does not have to respect all of the things that other offenses force them to.

it is all because the QB is flawed and Smith struggles to manufacture touches for the few playmakers he does have.

Mike Tomlin is no longer the "Players" coach he used to be. I still believe that if we had a young Mike Tomlin, George Pickens would still be on the team.

Dallas has a young head coach in Brian Schottenheimer who doesn't mind having to hand-hold his Super Star players.

Mike Tomlin wants nothing to do with his players anymore. He doesn't want to have to develop a young QB, he doesn't want to have to hand-hold his Super Star players anymore. Mike Tomlin makes this perfectly clear when he talks about wanting Volunteers, not Hostages; he doesn't want to have any players on his team that will cause problems and take time away from his personal life, as he has to deal with player problems.

I really do wish that people would stop calling Mike Tomlin a "Players Coach" as that style of coaching no longer applies to Mike Tomlin.

I wonder if a young Ben Roethlisberger would have been traded away by Tomlin and Khan???

Oh it is most definitely a Tomlin thing. Guys main objective is 0 turnovers and win 13-10. Too bad it’s no longer 1991.

Avg Throw depth vs the sticks:

Rodgers; 2nd lowest in the NFL = -3.2 yds avg
Rudolph; 3rd lowest in the NFL = -3.1 yds avg

[D Gabriel #1 in the NFL = -3.9 yd avg]

Thinking about what that means; a receiver has to run 3 yards and he still hasn't gained anything toward a first down.

I wish Tomlin would get hit by a bus.
I can understand playing that style for a few games during a season in a “make do” situation, but to use this style of play consistently is just dumb.

No creative OC and play caller. They should let AR call plays today.
