I wonder if a young Ben Roethlisberger would have been traded away by Tomlin and Khan???

I remember all the headaches that were caused by a young Ben Roethlisberger, and have to wonder if this older version of Mike Tomlin would have sent this punk kid packing, like he did with George Pickens? Thankfully Mike Tomlin was not here for Ben's younger years!!!

Ben Roethlisberger has faced several significant off-field issues throughout his career, including legal troubles, personal struggles with addiction, and controversies that have impacted his public image.
    Key Incidents

Motorcycle Accident (2006): In the summer of 2006, Roethlisberger was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Pittsburgh while riding without a helmet and a valid license. This incident raised concerns about his recklessness and jeopardized his NFL career.

Sexual Assault Allegations: Roethlisberger faced multiple allegations of sexual assault during his career. In 2009, he was accused of assaulting a hotel worker in Lake Tahoe, although the case was complicated by the revelation that the encounter was consensual. More recently, in 2017, he was accused of sexual assault in a Georgia nightclub, but the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.

Addiction Struggles: In a recent virtual conference, Roethlisberger openly discussed his battles with addiction, including alcohol and pornography. He acknowledged that these issues affected his roles as a husband and father, and he emphasized the importance of faith in overcoming these challenges.

Who knows at this point, but IIRC, there were reports that the Steelers were trying to trade him for Bradford after the sexual assault deal. I don't remember if Bradford was already in the league at that point, or if it was to trade Ben for a high draft pick to select Bradford.

Damn, getting older sucks. That feels like it wasn't that long ago. Time moves too fast as we get older.

I remember the rumor on Pittsburgh talk radio then was trading Ben to the Raiders for their #1 pick and then selecting Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen. Thankfully that never happened.

Why go there? Ben wasn’t perfect but he was great when it counted. How bout mentioning when he bought canines for Police departments and the wing sauce he sold for other charities? Tomlin would have never thought of trading Ben. He hasn’t made an aggressive move in his entire coaching career except for Pickens who did everything in his power to be traded.

I'm pretty sure they almost did. Wasn't there rumors of exploring trading him for the pick that would have taken Sam Bradford? I think this is a bit of an overreaction. I'm sure there was a "shape up or you're gone" talk. Ben figured it out... GP didn't.

I think there would be zero chance MT would've traded Ben.

Pickens got let go cause he had on field issues. As in, his play for Steelers was ass.

Ben had off field issues. His play for Steelers was HoF caliber.

When we are young the days are short and the years are long, when we are old the days are long but the years are short. At least that is how it feels.
