If we kept him and still got DK, he would still be playing with a better QB than last season and another good WR. Rodgers and DK aren't Dak and Lamb, but they are much better than what we had at the other WR starting spot and Wilson/Fields.

And who knows what the playbook would be if we had two real WRs? Smith did have a season in TEN where he had 2,000 yards between the WR1 and WR2. Would Pickens / DK / Rodgers really be any worse than Brown (1075 yards in 2020) / Davis (984 yards in 2020) / Tannehill (3,819 yards in 2020)?

What some folks aren’t getting is that trading Pickens wasn’t just for a 3rd rounder, it was to move all of our picks in every round higher without needing to trade up. With the draft in Pittsburgh, we want to make a splash!

Ya but we will still have a late first round pick. How much of a splash can we make in the second round and beyond. I mean I doubt there’s going to be a stud QB in the late first round. That said who knows!!!

No, I knew you meant there could be more behavior issues, too. I don't doubt it, but the Steelers weren't committed to him past this season if they kept him, anyway.

The Wilson thing is yet another reason that trading Pickens was stupid.

Wanting to make a splash because the draft is in Pittsburgh would be an even dumber reason to trade Pickens.

The 3rd round pick from the Pickens trade (probably somewhere around our pick in terms of number since the Boys are 5-5) isn't going to let us move up much in the 1st.

IMO, the benefit of having the 3rds is that we'll still have some picks to make (in front of the home crowd) after we trade this years 1st and 2nd (+ next year's 1st) to move up.

Even still, going up from the late teens to early 20s probably isn't going to net us an above average starter from this class IMO. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try. But it's a low probability result IMO.

I wouldn't be so sure of that given how things are trending. The remaining schedule is tough, and injuries are starting to pile up.

Just like it seemed like we were going to pick a QB come hell or high water as Colbert's going away present to the team. Which turned out like most of the other early picks at the end of his career.

Why are we trading up again? If we finish as bad as many of you seem to think we will, we're picking in the top12 picks. I don't want to draft one of the QBs that high. We stay put and draft another stud DL or OT with that pick. Maybe even an elite CB or FS.
