The Steelers could have been the team that benefitted from that contract year, but they chose to cripple the offense for a third-round pick instead.

Given how clearly yesterday's games demonstrated the Steelers' flaws and the talent of Pickens, it is certainly relevant.

You do realize Pickens is playing with a much better QB in Dallas than anybody the Steelers has.

People don’t want to hear it any longer? Precious! Our RB Coach said Naj was “Special” Well, he’s now gone too but George Pickens IS special. I’ve never seen hands like his. So, let’s get rid of the most dynamic player we have and do it fast. Yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket that a fix things!

You do realize that doesn’t account for all of his production, right? He was better than any receiver the Steelers currently have, including Metcalf, last year with two quarterbacks worse than Rodgers. If you want to delude yourself into thinking one of the best receivers in the NFL wouldn’t have made a difference for the Steelers this season, I can’t help you. If you don’t think Pickens is that good, you haven’t been paying attention to the NnFL outside of Pittsburgh.

That is the implication. Just because they didn’t win a championship with Brown, they shouldn’t have kept Pickens. I understand that it seems ridiculous when I reflect your point back at you. That is because your argument makes no sense.

Don’t ever talk back to me. SteelerGlenn hasn’t been the same since he did. Learn from her. He used to be a him. Now he’s an it. Or a janitor or something.

What part of the organization ****ed up by not wanting him around do you not understand?

They are supposed to be in the business of winning football games, not charm school. Talent goes a long way to winning games. Giving up their best offensive talent was stupid, and it has cost them dearly.

Also, did you hurt yourself moving the goalposts just now?

Pickens looks like arguably the best WR in football right now. Yea this was a horrible trade.

I can't wait for Rooney to answer that question. Pickens is going to be an All-Pro this year, and everybody is going to want to know why the Steelers got rid of their best offensive player on the team.

Starting to get the Barkley and the Giants Vibe here. New York has since gotten rid of both their GM and Coach after letting Barkley walk.

When do we start asking if George Pickens can win the offensive player of the year award?

My advice is head to a bomb shelter, disconnect your TV, unplug your computer, and throw your smart phone away; because George Pickens mania is taking over the world.

Today on NBC Sports... Pro Football Talk live. Mike Florio proudly wears his Pittsburgh Steelers George Pickens #14 jersey. :thumbs up:

Yup. At some point, the rest of the board here is going to stop hiding behind the excuses and realize just how badly the Steelers screwed up in trading him. The Bengals were lighting people up with what's left of Joe Flacco because they have two dominant receivers. The Steelers could have been doing that with Rodgers. The trade was debatable at the time. Now it is not. The Steelers ****ed up big time.

Yup. The Cowboys dug themselves a big hole, but they seem to be climbing out of it. Their front office has been mocked for years, but they put in the work to try to fix the team while the Steelers sat on their hands. Also, they robbed the Steelers blind on the Pickens trade.

I don't like how the guy behaves either, but sometimes you have to adapt to keep elite talent. People are really reaching for excuses on this one, too. We've got one guy saying they didn't win with Antonio Brown, Bell, and Roethlisberger, so why keep Pickens? That one makes no sense at all. The nonsense about there not being enough targets in the offense needs to go away, too. If they had two studs at receiver, they would have had to adjust the offense. It's not as if they have some dominant running back who needs to get the ball.

Yes, they probably would have lost him after the season, but they would have gotten a comp pick. They are going to lose Rodgers and Slay after the season. Probably Heyward, too. This is an older team, but one that could have been good. Giving guys away because they are going to leave after the season is stupid.

I'd argue their recent success is driven at least as much by their emerging defense after the trade for Williams. Teams can't rush on them, at all.

DK is a very good NFL WR. He's not going into the HoF for his career, but he is still a very good WR.

GP is also a very good NFL WR. I would go as far as saying he is more naturally physically gifted than most other NFL WRs. Still unknown if he will have a HoF career.

During that draft cycle, Pickens was the only player I was absolutely certain the Steelers wanted to draft. Just like JPjr the following draft, he just made sense.
I also wanted the Steelers to draft DK during his draft year. I think they would have made a great tandem. But that didn't happen.

This upcoming draft may see us take 2 WRs once again. CA3 becomes a FA in March. DK is only 27 and signed on for 4 years. We may be looking for the compliment 'Y' WR, and a slot guy depending on Wilson moving forward. Hypothetically.

Watch that game against the Eagles. Pickens was the best player on the field. The catch on a deep ball into double coverage was a thing of beauty. It set up the tying score. Then he got open on a third down to set up the winning field goal. He did more than that, but those were game changers.

The defense had to get better for them to start winning, but that was because the offense was there all along.
