The players should know how to line up right or Mason as the QB needs to recognize, I heard that Rodgers on the sideline saw it and reacted to it before the play happened.

It sounds like they used a different scheme than they had been using the last three games.

The officiating was terrible in the game. Why we didn’t challenge the placement of the ball after the failed rush push makes no sense unless you aren’t allowed to challenge there. We clearly made the first down. That is when the momentum of the whole game changed. Our team isn’t good enough to overcome the inefficiencies of poor officiating. There is no accountability tabioity of the officials in the league. Not sure why. It really devalues the product on the field.

Tomlin. That should be and will be my response after every loss the rest of this season. It all ultimately points back to the same answer.

I don't think that there was a single flaw, nor was there a massive flaw. It was more of a death by a thousand cuts type of loss IMO.

    Our punting was poor.
Our kick off returns were averaging about 8 yards less than their kick off returns.
Inability to throw a pass down the field.
Started the game with an INT.
    Gave up 31 points.
So many missed interceptions that were very catchable from our defense.

I still don't understand that one. The clock was stopped. I thought that the timeout penalty was for a running clock.

I don't think it is that they don't care. They just prioritize defensive positions much more and that is where the draft picks go. The Steelers go for just good enough on offense and then lean on the defense to get splash plays and keep the score low.

Yes this was the discussion on 93.7 the fan today. Rodgers noticed the illegal alignment and started pointing and shouting trying to get them to lign up properly. But neither Mason or the coaches noticed and ran the play anyway.

Draft picks went to the offense for a pretty long time, although we did use a 1st round pick on a defender again in 2025 (1st time since Bush in 2019). Which is why our offense is so cheap (often on rookie deals) and our defense is so expensive (older on 2nd and 3rd contracts).

In the 2nd round, we've gone offense in 6 of the last 8 selections (2 defenders since 2017).

It just sucks that we missed on most of those high value offensive picks so that we didn't really want to sign them to 2nd contracts. And the one guy we did extend (PF) got basically the lowest type of deal you give on a 2nd contract (just on the border of top 10 AAV in the position). If you pay less than that, you essentially just squeeze them for the minimum (like we did with Edmunds).

We did have a run of defensive 1st round picks for a long time though. From 2010 to 2019, the only offensive players we selected in the 1st were Pouncey and DeCastro. That's a while ago though. The only two players left from that stretch are Cam (somehow playing well despite being drafted in 2011) and TJ.

Sounds like Mason recognized it too, but kind of late in the play clock. Apparently he motioned for Austin (who also realized too late) to move up. At least that's my understanding from what they said on the terrible podcast.

I think it's because otherwise players would fake being injured to give their guys time to rest / call plays.

    It really sucks though.

Tomlin. Same conservative offense. Nothing in the middle. Rodgers hasn't thrown there either.

Pass defense middle of field. For years upon years it's been an issue.

Terrible non-winning schemes. The use of Warren, Muth and Washington makes a person run head first into hard wall.

DK rattled off a passing stat this morning. For the month steelers haven't completed a pass for more than 20 yards.

Just bring KP back of we aren't going to try.

Defense is mostly responsible for loss to Bears. Look no further than Caleb Williams stats for the game. I knew this would be a disaster before the game even started.

We also do this way too many times. We run when we should pass and we pass when we should run.

And Williams was inaccurate in this game but the bears still score 31 points

I would say the defense and Mason two turnovers and couldn't complete the deep ball.

It would be a lot easier to stomach a defensive orientated HC with an anemic offense if the defense was good. Wake up Rooney.

Having only 1 WR was a very obvious weakness for this team last season (which basically everyone knew in the offseason). And it really bit us in the ass when that WR got hurt.

So what do we do this offseason? Trade away that good WR for peanuts. Sign a WR to a big contract. And then pair him with a bunch of WR3/4 again.

We need a high end WR in the draft this year IMO.
