Right. This was all because of the horrid 3 game losing streak vs. AFC West teams that was capped off by Tomlin not bringing Ben back early enough vs. the Raiders after being cleared because he thought we had control of the game with Dobbs and a 1 possession lead. Great call Mike….

Of course, they're worried about winning games but to say he just cares about getting to 9 wins is BS.

TOMLIN is never going to say that’s his goal to the media. I’m not saying his ambition at the begging of a season is to go 9-8 but he coaches super conservative and always plays vets. Those are traits that give you a better probability of being around .500 but not risking a strikeout to hit a home run gives you the name Mediocre Mike.

It does seem silly to think he cares as much about it as some fans think he does but I can't say with absolute certainty he doesn't care about it at all. I mean, regardless of how people feel about Tomlin, never having a losing season is actually pretty impressive. It's not having at least 1 if not 2 more Super Bowl wins that bothers me. That's a rabbit hole we don't need to go down for the millionth time.

You could say the same thing about the other point. Show me one instance showing that Tomlin doesn't care about not having winning seasons streak.

Of course he cares about wanting to win. It just so happens that his streak and what rightfully should be his goal to win coincide. I don't think for a moment that Tomlin is fighting to just get to 9 wins.......however, I do think that if his streak is in jeopardy, we will see some angst and anger in his press conferences.

Personally, I believe that the little devil is sitting on his shoulder, whispering in his ear about his streak. I don't see how he can't think about it. It is probably one of the big things that will get him into the HOF. He is human and gets asked about it all of the time. He is well aware of it and is always going to give the 'not a factor' answer as he should. But I bet that it is a factor. The only question is what can he do about it? He is already trying to win. I can't see where a desire to keep his streak alive will change much about how he operates. That desire to keep the streak doesn't really open up any new options to him.

Tomlin's coaching style serves no other purpose than non-losing seasons.

If he didn't care about the lack of playoff wins, they wouldn't have signed veteran QBs like Russell Wilson or Rodgers .

Wait what truly defines a season being over? Losing season? Missing the playoffs? We still have a chance to have a winning season.

chance for a playoff win? Forget about it, can’t take a coach who has lost his last 6 playoff games allowing 38 ppg average, seriously.

No...It was more about his streak....You can't win a super bowl with a washed QB,unless if you have a amazing defense like the 2015 broncos

It's not about what they should do. Tomlin won't, and you know it.

I don't think another few years of non losing seasons is going to affect some hall of fame status. By next year he could pass Noll as the Steelers all-time winningest coach that will matter more than some non losing seasons streak.

You're really clueless if you think they signed those vets just to get to 9-8 :facepalm:

That’s the biggest proof out there. He’s unwilling to take risks on
I’d like to think he’s not that dumb if they are actually eliminated. Why would you roll out Rodgers at 6-8?

Meanwhile it will be a decade without a playoff win. Sorry if I’m not impressed by simply existing long enough gets you there.

The steelers are clueless if they thought before the season they were a Super Bowl contender. I've been saying since 2022 that the Steelers need a true rebuild, but Tomlin refuses to do that because of his streak.

They never do a full rebuild and it has nothing to do with worrying about some non-losing season streak .

Why they sign so many veterans when they were not close to be a true super bowl contender?
