Well, it's the most content I've seen of Todd over the years.

Hooray for making the run game more versatile. Amen!

Let's hope it translates to the field. I think La'veon is a step in that direction.

It's a shame Mendenhall never crossed paths with a good OL or system. He would have been a major weapon with room to operate. I like Bell (and it's too soon to judge him), but I don't think he's going to be quite the same kind of dangerous.

The problem with Mendy was that he had the uncanny ability to fumble at the most inopportune of times. He carried the ball like a sack of potatos. This was evident in the crucial fumble during the SB against the Packers. Although Johnson completely wiffed on his block and Clay Mathews put his helmet on the ball, if Twitterboy would have just tucked it tight against his body we would probably be shooting for an eighth Lombardi right now. Maybe even a ninth if the QB to not be named on this sight had not the brain aneurism in SB XXX.

It's like he was talking directly to me in that interview with all that sexy talk of running it better, playing to players' strengths, and scoring in the redzone. If we can stay healthy this year and control the football, we'll be a force to be reckoned with.

The year when the "experts" project the least is usually when we do the best. I think we are going to have home field advantage through the playoffs and beat Denver on the way to Lombardi number 7. Key is health and a balanced attack that allows our defense to pin its ears back. With all our weapons on offense sooner or later I hope we start putting up 30+ a game on people.

It sure would be nice if this team could consistently drop 30 on their opponents. If they do that they might not lose a single game this season. The defense can hold most teams to 20 or less. If the Offense spots them 30, look out!

But, how many years have we been saying this? Sooner or later they have to start producing. Right?

I thought he was holding it alright on that play. Didn't have two hands on it, but it was high and tight. In fact, I always thought it was weird that he often held the ball away from his body while he ran, but that never seemed to be the cause of any of his fumbles.

Anyway, although that fumble sucked for everybody, I don't think that was the problem with him. The problem was that he rubbed everybody the wrong way. Otherwise it would be a no-brainer to keep him here if he was willing to sign for $2.5 million/year.

I liked the part where he mentioned protecting the ball, and converting third downs the first half of the season, vs. the last 8 games...
As has been discussed on here, relentlessley, I believe turnovers, are probably the single biggest, most avoidable, stat that you can measure, that affect your record.
Injuries are big, but debatable as to how preventable.
Same with penalties. Important, but some are easily avoidable, some are just B.S. calls.
I liked that he mentioned that the QUALITY of the running game, was more important than the QUANTITY of runs.
He did point out, that the first half of the season, we were doing great at possesing the ball, even if the run game wasn`t what we wanted, we were still converting third downs, and controlling the clock.
And, like he said, with the departure of some vets on the O-line, we are gaining some athleticism there, and we should be more versatile in our running attack.
Like he said, when everyone in the stadium knows WHAT you are going to run, you have to execute flawlessley to even gain a couple yards.
The seeds are there, and I will have to be on suicide watch, with Blast, if we DON`T finally start putting close to 30 points a game on the board!!!
The TALENT has been there for awhile...
Now let`s just get it done, Damnit!!!:herewego!:

HERE WE GO STEELERS!!! HERE WE GO!!!

Since 1960, NFL/AFL teams have played 1484 'seasons' and only 30 of them have averaged 30pts/game (4 of them are Recent Pats teams). Top Steeler offensive performances are: 2007 24.6ppg, 1995 25.4 ppt, 1979 26ppg and 1975 26.6 ppg. Last yr the Steelersc averaged 21 ppg.

Maybe this team is highly talented, but I don't see it as having a historically productive offense. If the pull in 25ppg in 2013, I say dance in the streets. But 30?, don't hold your breath.

Considering the way the game is geared towards offense now, it's not unreasonable to expect 30ppg. We almost averaged in in 75 and 79 according to your stats, definitely capable of it now.

i know it's still points per game but when was it they changed to 16 games instead of 14? different rules now too. if any team could do it , it would be nowdays. the NFL is catered to the offense now.
