CA is a BIG state. There are regional variations in the food too. Mexican in, say, Crescent City is WAY different than it is in San Ysidro.

I grew up eating spam too often. After not having eaten it in decades, I tried it again a few years ago. It reminded me of the congealed crap that comes off of meat and it tasted horrible. Absolutely gross and could not believe that I had to eat that as a kid.

Even though I have never been.....
I would have to agree, because even in the same countries , the recipes for the same foods are totally different. Hell just from north to south , and east to west in America our recipes for the same foods are way different.

Slice it up, and dip it in pancake batter, and fry it up for breakfast is delicious

Your kids have to know the Steelers schedule. September thru February. So they need to make babies from about June thru late November to avoid scheduling conflicts with the games. :)

And everywhere you go, hear people say 'what is that smell?' and just smile to yourself, knowing that you are not going to share.

Went out this morning to grab some dried chilies. I stopped into a nearby carneceria and they had the 3 main types needed for chili, but i needed 1 more. I wanted a couple chili de arbol, but they only had giant bags. I need 2 peppers not 4lbs. After leaving i saw another place and decided to stop in and check. This place is part carneceria, part taqueria, and part convenience store. I didnt see any, but asked the little old lady behind the counter. She confirmed they didnt have any and suggested checking the place i just left. I explained they had them, but only in giant bags and i only need two. She looked amused, told me to wait a minute, and waddled off into the kitchen. She returned with a small Tupperware dish of 8-10 chili de arbor free of charge. I love Latino culture.

Is that what you had last week??
Go with the winning food. LoL.
I can't eat anything different on game day when we win.
I remember eating 7 layer dip for 15 game days in a row when Ben was a rookie. I was so tired of eating it, but I wouldn't change it . LoL

    I’m very jealous

There are no stores like that any where near where I live

I grow what I can and have what else I need shipped from Hatch NM

Now when I lived in Chicago which has a large Hispanic population we could go out Saturday morning and buy corn tortillas that were still hot

That sucks. You can get them from amazon, but in my experience they’re 2-3x the price. There used to be a bar/restaurant here that kind of centered on hatch chilies. The owner would drive to NM to buy them by the bushel.
