I think a player could technically charge someone for assault for spitting on them.

In hockey, Todd Bertuzzi was charged with assault for "hunting him down" on the ice, punching him, and driving his head into the ice.

It was assault because it was beyond the normal activities of the game (which even includes fighting).

Now, this is in a different jurisdiction (even a different country because I think the Bertuzzi thing happened in Canada), so maybe the rules are different. But I think spitting on someone is assault. And it's certainly beyond the normal expectation of a football game.

I don't think this would ever happen for spitting though. Probably need significant physical injury...like what happened to Steve Moore (who Bertuzzi assaulted).

ETA: It's also probably true that if Debo spit on someone, significant physical injury would have likely followed. Because whoever got spit on would have tried to start something (reasonably). And Harrison likely ends it.

Given his history of anger issues on and off the field, part of me is surprised he isn't already there.

 

He is getting eviscerated by Bengals fans and rightfully so. It isn't just what he did, but that he was stupid enough to think he could get away with lying about it.

 

I can get behind that. It appears that was the case with Chase getting the suspension and Ramsey not.

 

Wild appeal lol The only reason it didn't hit him in the face is because it hit his own facemask. It still hit him at the neck/high part of the jersey. We all saw what he was trying to do lol
