Reading Ronnie Lott's book with one hand before bed at night.

Tbh I think Mason has become cozy in his role as a backup QB. Good money, save the body, hot girlfriend, grow a mustache.

He has actually proved to be a decent backup. Most believe he probably would not be lights out as a franchise QB. You think otherwise apparently.

We might get a chance to see as the Steelers have very limited options at this time after this year.

Rodgers put 10 points on the board and so did Rudolph. People are forgetting we had 2 defensive TD's in the second half.

Agreed, AR’s play was trending downward, the difference of play with Mason is not that much and down the stretch Masons play might surpass AR’s

I know he is starter material worthy of 4-year contract and super bowl window. I know that, I do not need to see.
This team started Russ and Fields. Pickett for two seasons. And so on, you can go around the league with competing starters. Bo Nix and Daniel Jones are 9-2, 8-2. Do you think I would rather draft Mendoza or Ty Simpson, or Dante Moore, than give Mason a 4-year window? Of course not.
    I know. I am clear.
The Steelers have wasted this dude's career.

My point is sit back and have a beer you'll be able to see Mason perform sooner than later. I'm pulling for him. I don't think it will be Joe Montana 2.0 but I can dream.

Keep in mind that Mason did have a shot in Tennessee also. I don't agree that Mason is some victim here.

Hot girlfriend. Making bank. He's already had a longer career than most NFL QBs.

Go Steelers. Hope he does well. :drinks:

How is mason not much different?

    To me I seen
    - killed the clock
    - got DK involved and targeted more
    - opened the playbook more (and who knows how much more there Wil be added).

Oh I love these games where people spew just a little but not the full deep thought.....

    Rodgers
    - TD
    - punt
    - punt
    - punt
    - FG

    Rudolph
    - FG
    - TD

Not only that. But rudolph was able to put together a longer drive and more plays on a drive.

because he played half a game against the worst defense in the league? Most plays from his statistics were plays made after the catch, btw. He basically just threw checkdowns that surprisingly worked. I hope people realise that our season is basically over if Rodgers is out for multiple games now. If we played the Bengals four more times, maybe Rudolph would be good enough for that. But not against the teams that come now, nuh-uh. Even though rodgers sputtered recently, he showed earlier that he can be the game winner with some great plays. If the offense around Mason was great, maybe he could be good enough to be a successful game manager. But it is not. I think people are going to see that very quickly, if not already in Chicago.

To be honest, the only thing exciting about this is that we're one step closer to seeing Will Howard. At least it would be interesting to watch the games. Then, at least, the future, good or bad, can begin. This treading water with has-beens and never-were's is boring and pointless. We're not winning anything this year anyway. Go ahead and delude yourself that we'll be playing deep into January if you choose to.

To be clear, I in no way am hoping Mason gets hurt. Nothing is worth that.

Rodgers play has been trending down the last 3 games. I don’t think that is a coincidence based on his age and part of the season we are in. Mason isn’t the grizzled Vet ARod is but he can probably do certain things better at this stage of his career. I don’t think there will be a major drop off in QB play based on Rodgers recent play.

They were considering that option, but there was too much risk to ball security.

Rudolph is one of the best backup QBs in the league. I bet he does better than Cooper Rush for Ravens, Jameis Winston for Giants and Jacoby Brissett for Cardinals.

And I'm the negative one around here.

This whole 'checkdown' thing is so overplayed. It's the way modern offenses are run. Mahomes has led the NFL in pass attempts BLOS for years. Look at the top passers for "checkdowns" this year. The 'bombs away' offenses have dried up because of the changes in defensive schemes.
    • P. Mahomes- 73 atts
    • B. Nix - 71 atts
    • T. Tagovailoa - 71 atts
    • J. Love - 63 atts
    • B. Mayfield - 60 atts
    • A. Rodgers - 59 atts
    • D. Prescott - 56 atts
    • J. Herbert - 54 atts
    [does not incl. yesterday's games]

Players get paid what they earn. Rudolph has earned backup money. Nothing more.

I'm rooting for Mason to do well, as always, but lets see how he does when teams have prepared a game plan with Mason in mind as opposed to having to play against him after preparing for Rodgers. I'll be the first to cheer if Mason can keep it up with that in mind.

You are right and QB like Brady and Brees in their prime throw many checkdown in their career but a QB also need to complete throw over 10 yards at time and this is a problem for Rodgers right now and it was a problem with Roethlisberger in the last 2 years. They were among the worst in the league in this stats......When a QB become older, this is harder for them to throw medium to deep pass and are more afraid to take a hit for the good of the team

Is everything the same with the titans? Same line? Same receivers? Same running backs? Same tight ends? Same playbook?
