Tough luck for Mason then: at Bears, vs the Bills, at Ravens.

Meh, if I were Mason I'd rather that than some teams everyone expected us to trounce. Sets the expectation lower.

But I think he's been around long enough it doesn't matter either way.

Amputate it and be at Wednesday practice.

Unlucky for the Steelers then, that they lose their starter at this time. It's kind of a breaking point of the season in the pursuit of the playoffs.

Well, I'm not going to get into comparing a 41-y/o Rodgers with Rudolph, but I don't see significant difference between the two at this point.

OK, let me open your eyes to today.

    1. Rodgers couldn't beat Bengals
    2. Rodgers can't drain a clock
    3. Rodgers gives DK minimum targets.
    - you know, the kid that's paid 140 million and cost us a second round pick.

Mason turned all that around. And he did that with not playing with starters.
    - oh one more thing, mason opened the playbook and has a deeper arm.
    - of and another, this team had more heart once mason started than the first half and the last 4 games.

You don't have to convince me. I want Mason to start. But meaningfully.
He did not get starter reps in the offseason, was not trained to be the starter this season. He is not meaningfully prepared to be the starter. It's unfair to him and the team.
He needs to be given the starter contract, the offseason, the reps, the window, and everything that goes with the starting job.

Tough Luck??? Wouldn't anything to get Mason in the game as QB #1 be a Lucky "Break" for Mason???

This games was the same thing I saw in 2023; the O-Line seems to get better when Mason is out there. Rodgers has not looked comfortable all year long in the pocket.

He's the backup. It's his job to be prepared to be the starter and he knows that.

No. Mason is starter material and needs a starting opportunity. Not these sht limited rep opportunities where off the bench cold he has to come in and save the day. That's not being lucky, that's being fkd in your career.

Disagree. His job as a backup is not to be the starter. He is not prepared by the team nor paid by the team to be the starter. He is paid and prepared to come in off the bench in a limited role.

    That's what the job is.

That makes no since. So, are you saying that it would be better for Mason's career if he never played in a game this year, and just sat behind Rodgers all year long?

Warm or Cold, it is probably better for your career to be out there playing on the field, rather than sitting on the bench.

He is absolutely 100% supposed to be prepared to come in and be the starter. That's what the job is.

I disagree with that. That is actually incorrect. He did not get the reps, he was not prepared by the team to be the starter. The team courted Rodgers all offseason to be the starter, got him, and invested in Rodgers to be the starter. Mason is paid $2 mil and that is not starter money and the team does not want him to be the starter, they are openly not committed to him as the starter. So being the starter is not his job. You are wrong.

It is the backup's job to be prepared to be the starter any time the starter goes down. That is absolutely the job.

I hope he keeps it low key, keep on dinking and dunking, taking sacks, maybe pull a hammy. Let them play the 3rd string QB. Fk them.

What are you talking about? Are you suggesting that Mason Rudolph, out of spite for the Steelers not officially naming him the starter coming into the season, should sabotage their efforts until they pull him to start Howard? That cannot possibly be what you are suggesting.
