hate to see him go..... I had a slim hope that we would bring him back at the last min... he wasn't that great as far as guard work, or any kind of position flexibility was concerned, but he stepped up big at the c position when he needed to. I personally believe he was a top 15 c......... good luck in buffalo (until you play us though)

Eh... not a huge loss on the field...

He had some nice contributions to the team, and I'm sure guys like Ramon Foster and Pouncey will miss him...

Good luck, thanks for everything, but we needed someone new. Clinging to the Legurskys on the team is what keeps us 8-8. Hopefully he does well in Buffalo.

I like Legursky and wish him well in Buffalo. I think he was our MVP in the last Super Bowl against the Packers. He filled in admirably for Pouncey and kept BJ Raji in check all game. There just comes a time for everyone to move on and that time is now. Good luck, Legs.

    Yep.
Never my favorite, but did allright when called upon.
Good point about vs. Rajii in the SB...
My concern now, is simply with depth.
I know at least half the board hates Starks, but to me, he would have been a good security blanket in case of injury.
    Same with Legs...
Can`t blame either of them for going where they can start.
Here`s hoping we stay healthy, or find a pleasant surprise among the back-ups, if it comes to that.
    GO STEELERS!

I refuse to watch that game again but I saw someone on here point out that Legs actually didn't play well in that game and was responsible for some big plays against us :hmmm:

Do any film guys want to chime in on this???

Not trying to bash Legs, I like him.

Wasn`t there a controversial holding call in the endzone on him?
My memory ain`t what it used to be.
I might be confusing that with a different game/center, and either way, I don`t think it was clear-cut, that he "held"...

You're thinking about Hartwig in the Super Bowl against the Cards.

I was hoping we'd resign him but was okay with the way things was going because he's a one trick pony- even though that one trick was pretty darn good!!! Now hearing Beachum is struggling with learning the Center position coupled with Pouncey's injury history I'm getting worried and not happy the Bills got him instead of us.

Oh Well, good for Legs, Pittsburgh North is accumilating alot of our OL castoffs,-----

I'm wondering who's next in line becoming our BackupCenter,, Thoughts?

Beachum will get it together by the time the season starts. He just started, so it's natural for him to struggle. But he has time. And I think he'll be better as a C/G than an OT. I have confidence in him. After that, there's just one guy listed as a center named Joe Madsen, and I don't think he's projected to even make the practice squad. Mike Golic, Jr. is listed as a tackle, but he can play center and he's a good size for it. But he has to make the team first. That leaves the guards. DeCastro could do it, but it's unlikely they'd want to move him. I'm not sure if Malecki has done that before, but we liked him some at guard. He's only 6'2" though. We all like Nik Embernate. If I were him, I'd try to pick up the center position.

Yeah, that was Hartwig. There was, however, an issue with a certain fumble against Green Bay that some cited Legursky for. I seem to remember David Johnson and that quick-footed chap we don't mention anymore were also involved.

Aye. All in all, Legursky performed well considering the circumstances. I think some people also may have accidentally threw his bad snap from the AFCCG in there too, though I may be wrong.

Ugh, still painful to watch. 17-21 - no fumble and we might just have pulled that one out of the bag, deserved or not.

Legursky blew his block, and that contributed to Mendenhall trying to squeeze through a tight hole (that disappeared completely when David Johnson didn't block anybody). Legursky blew it on that play, at that played a role in the fumble, which is what killed the game for us, but it was still 80% Johnson's fault. For the rest of the game Doug was solid.

Still, you have to wonder if we win that game if Pouncey plays. And Pouncey mostly likely plays if the Ed Hochuli doesn't blow the call on Heath Miller's catch in the 1st quarter of the AFCCG. I bet you guys didn't see THAT coming!

madsen was at the combine. he started 50 games at west virginia since his freshman year. he's just a tick under 6-3.5 310 and has good quick feet. he's probably learning the guard spot more then center. i don't think he played guard since his freshman year. he's got short arms though. it makes a difference. he's played in that up tempo offense that wvu had. i liked joe. he was listed to go in the late 6th or 7th round. he was the 10th ranked center in the draft. the short arm thing dropped him. the tape isn't bad. actually, i've seen him play a good bit. he's a country boy and would be a hoot as a lockeroom guy.

malecki has played pretty well at center the last two preseasons. he's an inch taller then legs. he can play some guard and is mobile, just not a huge guy. he played both G and C at pitt. he played in the cleveland game at the end of last year. i'm not sure of his PS status. he may be the surest bet right at this point if the season were to start now.

cheadle, i'm not sure if he's ever played center.

as snack said beachum will get it before the season starts but one of these other two may be on the team or close.
