That's about the time he shouldn't have been renewed.

Sucks to be a Steelers fan. There are a handful of horrible coaches out there that keep getting hired, so I am glad we don't have those coaching our Steelers. It's small consolation as we're stuck with one of the bottom 1/3 of head coaches and horrible assistants since around 2017 or 2018. Sucks, just sucks. Rooney's are comfortable being mediocre and a playoff laughinstock, there is NO OTHER explanation for renewing Tomlin a couple of times since they should have let him walk.

Get me, I know, but someone will come in, and comment, and not read all of what I said, and will read only a piece, and it will have to be repeated all over again. Believe me , I get tired of repeating this.

They beat the Browns by two TDs and held them without a TD, and they blew out the Jets and Raiders last season come up with another false narrative.

Turning into a pumpkin for a week and judging by narrow win over a hapless Falcons team (their offense isn't much better than ours), perhaps a second-half pumpkin. The Colts are playing in a fairly mediocre division and that might save them.

Enough to know we are not one of the better coached teams the past decade. Maybe you were talking to yourself, if so, it is very appropriate comment. Do you not agree that Tomlin is a below average head coach or not? If not, there is no helping you.

You or anyone else on this board will NEVER convince me any team knows exactly what their opponent is going to do. Does not work like that and for any player to say dumb **** like that makes them look stupid.

I bet you actually think it was coaching that lead to our loss Sunday night. LoL. That would show your lack of what you see. One man was responsible for that $hit show.

Not trying to convince you, it should be obvious that it HAS and will continue to happen. We're vanilla so it's not that hard, but I do trust Edleman, he wasn't joking. We were NEVER competititve against the Patriots under Tomlin. They can make light of it now, but they DID know EXACTLY what the defensive plan was and given how easily (on defense) they stopped Steelers, they had some good coaching or sign-stealing or scouting and knew, close-enough, the play calls to have safeties miracously in the perfect spot to break up a pass or intercept Ben.

Had we swapped coaching staffs (and I don't think Bill Belichick is all that...it was more on Brady for sure) we'd have won more of those matchups than we lost. Tomlin is awful, 10 years running proves that. It sucks for us, but we're stuck in mediocrity for the forseeable future. ONLY a Brady-clone could make Tomlin-lead team competitive in January. We need innovation, discipline, better game-planning and flexibility...none of those are Tomlin qualities.

No, I believe Rodgers had his worst game as a Steeler. I believe the OL sucked (again) more often than not. I belive Austin let a perfect pass right through his hands for a Rodgers int, but that could have been a 30 yard catch n run. I believe the defense continues to be bland, mediocre, given all the talent.

The OL and defense is on the coaching. Getting the least they can out of whatever talent is out there. The Standard is the Standard.

Anyone defending coaching at this point is beyond help. You couldn't even garner a reply when I asked you if you could admit that Tomlin is bad...nothing. I assume that means you agree, but can't bring yourself to admit it. It's okay to agree with this, you're one of the last few holdouts. If you believe Tomlin is a good HC and it's all those around him that are bad, that's ALL on Tomlin. He has first and last say in hires, save for those that want bags more money that Rooney won't authorize (and there probably has been a few).

Remember when Butler said after his retirement that Tomlin was calling some plays in the final years of LeBeau!

Which season was Tomlin calling the plays? The season they were overall 3rd best defense or the 20th defense? Both happened under Butler.

No, the argument was that Butler said Tomlin was calling plays when he was there and during LeBeaus last season.

From there it was just speculation on who was calling the defense now.

Considering Bouchette had said when Austin was hired that Tomlin should let Austin call the defense because Tomlin is doing too much, it would appear thats what happened.

Yet I saw Butler on the sideline with his play sheet talking into his headset every game.

He was also probably forced out, and they called it a retirement . So Tomlin took over play calling from a hall of famer like LeBeau, then why would Butler agree to take the job knowing the same could happen to him. You guys will believe anything .
