Just as many (and probably more) 1sr round QBs fail. Drafting a QB in the first round guarantees nothing.

Well, really you aren't getting Tua or Carr in the later rounds. Tua was the 5th overall pick and Carr was the 36th overall pick. There's a very small chance later round QB's develop into starters (Cousins, Wilson, Romo, Brady, Purdy, etc.), but nearly all of the late round guys end up as back ups at best. If teams could pull a Carr or Tua later in the draft, then teams wouldn't be so desperate to trade up and get all these quarterbacks that bust at like a 2/3's or worse rate in the first. Generally to get a good QB in the NFL, its a first round (sometimes, early second) pick.... and usually a top 10 pick. You have to live with the fact that 2/3 QB's taken in the first are going to be busts. You take the guy you like and hope it works out. That isn't to say we should just draft a QB to draft one... we have to actually think this player is going to develop into a starter. But, if we are truly looking for a franchise QB, it almost has to be in the first round, and it almost has to be in the top 15 picks.

Theismann was a fourth-round pick. Brady, Warner, and Purdy are outliers. Counting on guys like that is foolish.

Cousins and tannehill had deep throw possibilities. In all honesty looking through the film of him in college vs mason film in college, I like mason better.

So if Rodgers wraps the bed again, I say let mason take it.

Idk. I don't think we're one more bad Rodgers game away from benching him. We know what we have in Mason, and it isn't a starting caliber QB... Howard is the unknown.

The way I see it, the only way Rodgers is getting benched is if we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. I doubt he's as bad as he was Sunday night again... but you never really know. Either way, we'd have to have our season on life support to make that call, and really it isn't going to happen. If we do get eliminated and have a game or two left, those games should go to Howard with Rodgers coaching him and Mason backing him up.

The real reality is that we are very likely going to be playing a win or go home game against the Ravens for a shot at the playoffs in week 18. That is how this team always does it. We will find a way to win enough games to make that last one meaningful. People can call for Mason all they want, but there is very close to a 0% chance that it happens, and an actual 0% chance that a switch to Mason makes our offense better.

It's not like QBs in the first two rounds are slam-dunks. But, yeah, you generally get a better shot the further up the board you pick.

Did I say anything about counting on them? I’ll save you the effort. I did not.

I mean they keep saying he lacks arm talent, but he was making all the throws at Ohio State and was able to get the ball down the field for his receivers on time and in stride.

Does the OP still think this is a loaded draft at QB? Its not looking so good right now.

A lot of these QB’s look like booty juice

Mendoza, Simpson and Moore have clearly emerged as the top 3 QB's this college season but they will all be gone before we draft.

We wont sniff Mendoza, good chance he ends up in Cleveland (they have 2 #1 picks to dangle), plus they may just get the #1 pick outright.

I thought someone said Moore was returning to school next year, but a lot can change until then.

    That leaves Simpson. Meh…

Correct, we do know what we have in mason. And we know he would have had a drastically better game than Rodgers last week.

Yep, he made good throws. The system resolved around him as it should. Do we have that system? Maybe.
