Depends if the initial recovery estimates hold true I guess.

He shared this video on vine this morning. I can't embed it, because he didn't share it on Twitter or FB, but I took a couple screenshots. 33 staples.

Lucky for the perps that it wasn't Gilbert. He would have somehow found a way to fall on them and injure them.

I really do hate to "blame the victim". especially since he was a former Buckeye, and current Steeler,
    But....
Damnit Mike, What were you doin away from your home, at 3 am???
Don`t see anything funny in this...
He truly DID have an angel lookin out for him, considering the fact that the one holding the gun didn`t shoot him in the face!
It was probably a truly cool, pimped out truck that they were trying to take,
But, NO material possesion is worth your life!!!
Lotsa things in this story don`t add up, like "he didn`t have his keys"...
Then how did he get there with the truck?
Anyhow, I`m just glad he will be back for training camp, but,
Damnit, don`t these kids listen, when they go thru those courses that tell them not to put themselves in bad situations???!!!
Not really blaming him, because, I`m pretty sure the punks that tried to take his truck, had no idea who he was...
    But still...
If he had been safe at home in bed, at 3 a.m......
That sitchyouaytion doesn`t happen... just sayin....
Yer a multimillion dollar athlete... be smarter about what you do in your "off-time"...
I`ll quit bein a hypocrite now, `cause God knows I`ve put myself and others, in harm`s way, and I was nowhere near, being a rich young, athlete!
And from everything I`ve read, he wasn`t out gettin` wild on the town, or anything...
He truly WAS a victim in this sitch, I think...
    You wanna party?
    Rock on!
But, remember... Yer getting a ton of money to do a job...
Even if that "job" is playing a game...
Protect your livelihood at all costs, when that livelihood, entitles you to 6 figure paychecks...
    Just ask Ben...
Pretty sure he would tell you to walk the straight and narrow... wear your helmet... and, nuthin goood happens after midnight(no matter how much fun it is)!!!

    GO STEELERS!!!

According to this, it happened outside his residence. A man should be allowed to hang out in front of his home no matter what the hour is. In another article it said he was sitting on the back of his truck when they approached and when they said to give him the truck, he said he didn't have the keys and that's when things escalated.

The bad part there Blast is, if Mike had pulled out a gun and shot the guy. Mike would be the one in Jail. I carry legal and had it been me, I would have told the guy he is stupid for bringing a knife to a GUN FIGHT, right before I turned his lights out. Seriously though, I'm with you. I wouldn't attack mike with my pistol. Dat dude be big!

If he was carrying legally and shot the guy he wouldn't be in jail. One guy had a knife another a gun and they were trying to hijack him all reasons to shoot somebody.

    My bad...
I didn`t realize this was outside his house.
When I read that he staggered into a restaraunt, in the "South Side District", at 3 am looking for help for a stab wound, after he had been out with a couple of friends, that painted a completley different picture in my head, than the article you linked to.
Now, I am thinkin, it`s a Damn shame he didn`t take a 12 gauge outside with him, when he confronted the punks trying to take his truck...
But, he would`ve probably got in trouble for that, too... no matter how it went down...
I don`t tend to judge... Always too hard to tell what really happened, when you read twenty different stories, on the web, and you aren`t there to see what really happened...
It`s easy to assume that he was out being a knucklehead, because so many other spoiled, rich, kids are...
I really hope that wasn`t the case, and it doesn`t sound like it, if his truck was in front of his house...
    Heal up, Mikey!!!
(And at least take a ball bat with you, if yer gonna confront someone trying to take yer stuff!)
    GO STEELERS!

So does anybody know for sure if he resisted, put up a fight, or was out drinking? Or were those ALL assumptions? Here's how I'd assign blame:

    A) Told the guys he'd like to see them try and put up his dukes... partial blame.
    B) Told the guys he'd rather not hand it over... partial blame.
    C) Complied, but was out on the town somewhere at 3 AM... no blame. Don't give me that "Nothing good happens after midnight" crap. That might apply if he got into a fight at a bar in a war of words, and then tried to say it was all the other guy's fault. But he's a free man, he's an adult, and doing what you want as long as you're not hurting anybody or breaking laws is the best part of being an adult. Being in your car at nighttime, included. Getting carjacked is not your fault no matter what time it is. He does not owe his entire life to the Steelers. Not off the clock. 3 AM the night before a game? Yeah, that's irresponsible to your team. On your week off? He's not in trouble. Leave him alone.

I know everyone disagrees with that, but I don't think just because he's a football player he should have to be on a curfew his entire life.

He didn't have his keys he used the valet at the Japanese restaurant and it closed at midnight. I'm not sure how he resisted or if they did it thinking he was lying about not having us keys.

Damn, he's going to feel that during the season. First O-line injury. Surprised these ass-hats are still running the streets. Used to be a day when you didn't do this to the hometown team players or your ass would be reported and taken out quick!

A little off topic, but have you seen some of these newer cars now??? Some have a key pad on the door so you use to get in the car, and then once your in you just push a button and the car starts.... no key necessary?
