Who would hate this? Our deep game was an absolute joke last year. We had Mike Wallace and sent him deep like once every other game.

add the screen game, the outside run game and this mobile line and this offense has a ton of potential to be very good.

Every year the offense has the potential to be very good. The offense will never reach it's potential until Ben plays up to his potential consistently.

Ohh I don't know, *looking at Jackattack* :lolol: It's not so much the opening things up that people may have a problem with as it is Ben gaining more control of the offense. That's always been a big complaint around here, that he did whatever he wanted under BA.

Well, under BA our deep game was very threatening, but the rest of our offense sucked. Under Haley, our offense was much more together and the playcalling no longer an embarrassment, but the deep game was non-existent. I'd think merging the two might be a good idea. Sounds like Haley and Ben might agree.

Yup, I think they found a middle ground, according to Ben, everyone had input on it and they came up with something everyone was happy with.

Shut up BF, you're messing up the media's, "HOW LONG UNTIL BEN AND HALEY EXPLOOOOOOODE???????" narrative... Hopefully we'll hear something positive (or at least football related) about the Steelers' offense this offseason, instead of pre-drama.

this offense won't reach it's potential until the offensive line does. the rest goes as they go. we haven't seen the full potential yet, because the line hasen't been very good.

i agree TTF, it's not about how much ben likes the offense, it's how good he runs the offense. the other 10 have something to do with it. so do the other 42.

realisticly this is the last hurahh for the team as we see it. i'm just not sure yet if all the young parts will come together in time. that's yet to be determined.

Mostly what I hear from the media is that our whole team is a huge "question mark" and all that crap. I kinda like playing the role of the assassin/ninja of the league though.

Why SHOULDN`T a 10 yr vet with 2 Superbowl wins have some freedom to call the offense as he sees fit?!
I still don`t buy the argument, that anytime Ben gets to call his plays, he is always looking to go long.
I think he has the sense to use the running game, and I think he LOVES the play-action pass.
As usual, it comes down to, we, as fans, don`t really know when Ben is calling the plays, and when he`s not(except for most likely in the hurry-up no huddle offense), even then, he could be having plays called into his helmet, that he either accepts, or rejects.
Witness the controversy created last year, when he told the interviewer in a post game interview, that he called a play that wasn`t even in Haley`s offense, it was one from the past.
I don`t see a problem with giving him some freedom.
I would feel better about it, if I believed he put in the film study, and had the "football intelligence" of Peyton, but, I still don`t think he is an idiot.
He seems to have a good grasp of what works, and what doesn`t.
At the same time, I think it is a good thing to bring in the offense that Hale wants to run.
When it works(as in the beginning of last year), Ben should see that, and learn from it, that there is more than one way to move the ball, control the clock, and ... most importantly... PUT POINTS ON THE BOARD!!!...
I have been extremely frustrated that we don`t average 30+ points a game, given the talent we have at the skill positions.
Maybe, as Mac loves to remind us, it all starts in the trenches, or maybe the co-ordinaters are to blame.
At any rate, every year, I have been thinking, THIS is the year we go out and light up the scoreboard, and it just doesn`t happen...
Here`s hoping this is the year, that the "Amazing Steelers", are back!!!!:herewego!:

You know, I seem to recall that a good number of people were happy when Ben was able to call the plays (i.e. the two minute drill) under BA's watch. I like the direction Haley was taking the team, and Ben in particular before he was injured. He did shy away from the long ball and that was the one thing that bothered me, especially when you had a weapon like Wallace. I say the same every year and will probably never stop, but I am excited about this team!

very young but sure seems talented jim. i too like our team going forward. they needed talent and youth and stuck to their guns of cutting some dead weight that needed to go. how quick they see results is to be determined. alot of things have to come together yet.

So I'm sitting here minding my own business and just reading a few posts, and I get pulled into the Haley/Ben control debate once again! :lolol:

You know Haley's my guy, BF, but I've said all along that both Ben AND Haley need to be willing to compromise in order for this offense to reach its peak potential. I think our deep passing game can be much more effective if it's set up by an efficient short and controlled passing game. I think Ben and Haley can both be a little stubborn, but a little compromise can go a long way.

Too funny about Tebow being EXCITED...............If he'd just lose his virginity then maybe he could cut a great Viagra commercial. Have him hanging out in the J E T S Cheerleaders locker room while running that presser.

LOL! Hey, BFT, I've been around. Just trying to spend a little less time on the computer. Thanks for the concern though. Glad BC is on the TH bandwagon. As for BF feeling like an idiot...no comment.
