    Hey everyone,

Long-time Steelers fan here — been watching since the mid-90s and have stuck with the team through all the ups and downs, but being real, we have had it good most of the time. Finally decided to join the forum and jump into some good football talk.

One guy that’s really surprised me lately is Aaron Rodgers. He’s obviously not what he used to be, but I’ve been impressed with how much he still has left in the tank. More than anything, I’ve really liked his leadership — he brings a calm, veteran presence that I think the Steelers haven't had in a while specially im the offensive side.

Honestly, I hope he stays around for at least one more year. Even if a team drafts a young QB, having Rodgers there to learn from could make a big difference instead of throwing the rookie out to the wolves right away.

Glad to finally be part of the community and looking forward to talking football with everyone here!

I want to see how these final nine games play out first. He can always just continue to get better as he settles into this scheme or his play falls off of a cliff. It could go either way with a guy his age. I'm leaning towards him getting better myself. But ultimately, I think if he doesn't retire by March, he'll sign again after the optional workouts again.

Welcome. Aaron Rogers is playing well. Let’s hope he completes this journey with another SB trophy. Players around him need to make sure of it.

Rodgers arm looks fine and he can still read the defence and run his offence. He has been very good in the Redzone in particular

It all depends on how the remaining games go but I don’t think they should rule out him coming back in 2026 if he wants to.

They are very well set up with the cap in 2026 and could afford to bring him back and keep building the team

I hate AR but damn glad he is a Steeler at the moment.

As for me, with the time I have left I'd like to see another Bradshaw/Ben R. situation. If Rodgers plays next season we have more years to wait for that.

It took 40 years to find Bradshaw and another 20 to find Ben. Hoping we're all still around for the next one.

I did not want Rodgers at all, mostly because I thought his attitude over the last few years has been terrible, and he has been coming across as a narcissist more than when he was younger.

But I will be the first to say that I've been very pleasantly surprised by his attitude and behavior since singing with the Steelers. I'm very happy with how he is playing, and feel like he really stepped into being a positive leader with the Steelers, so if he keeps it up, I'd love to see him stay another year if his body can take it.

My guess is that we try to get Rodgers to come back next year. And that he'll want to keep playing (if we don't get him killed by the end of the year).

If that's the case, I think there will be a good chance he resigns with us. Seems to like the team and the coach.

But if a team like MIN asked him to play for them, maybe he goes there?

Welcome and thanks for stopping by we need some new blood

I agree with your thoughts on Rodgers

He is not the long term solution but it he would be very useful in putting the training wheels on a new young quarterback

I just would not want them to have him staying prevent them from drafting a new guy

I also don’t want the Steelers to over reach drafting a guy just to draft him and having Rodgers may diminish this urgency

He may even show for the OTAs next year

Last year he had already made plans when the Steelers contacted him and that is why he waited to sign

Are you discounting them drafting a young guy

Pretty much agree with what everyone is saying. I'd like to see him back if that does not change future QB plans. But I do think that the Steelers need a commitment (maybe they had one) way earlier than last season.

I think ARod have the 'gonna retire' speech just before leaving the Packers. Then when he signed with the Jets, the Favre comparisons started. Favre kept talking retirement and then signing back up. I don't know if Rodgers does all that though. I honestly think he does this season and walks away.

I can't stand the guy - but I find that if I ignore any interviews he's done/does, then I can tolerate someone giving us 30-40 TD's this season. Very refreshing compared to the line of stiffs that have been here lately. And I agree, his attitude so far has been good.

As for his future - whole lot of variables to consider. His arm looks good, he's still got an almost-undefendable quickness to his release. If we can keep him upright for the 2nd half of the season (not looking promising) then I would think he'd resign with us. Caveat: probably not if we tank and don't make the playoffs.

Going somewhere else? I'd say unless the Packers give him an honorary 1-day contract to sign/retire, he'll retire here. I just don't see him going back on the market. He had already made it public that he wanted this to be his final season, but we all know how that goes with pro athletes, especially ones with a little left in the tank.

I'm all for Rodgers sticking around for 1-2 more years. Draft a QB in '26 or '27 and let him sit like Mahomes did behind Smith and Lamar did behind Flacco.

Well it ain't going to happen in 26. Unless they find a smaller school gem like Ben. The lot of QB's coming out have fallen off a cliff. And the dream scenario of Arch Manning (wasn't on board) really has taken a turn as he will be staying put.

I would be in favor of Rodgers coming back even at this point. Getting him for a discount rate will not be so if he intends to stay. I could see a big pay raise if he decides to come back. They will have the cap money.

As stated I don't want them to reach for a QB in round 1 just because the draft is in Pittsburgh. Right now I don't see a clear round 1 QB.

I mean...he's 22nd ranked in taking sacks this season. I think between the OL improving and his quick decision making, I disagree with this. Obviously just takes one bad one, but I'd say so far it is promising that he stays upright.

NCAA QBs have been a disappointment this year to say the least. I don't think there's anyone worth a 1st round pick in '26.

Get a WR2 behind Metcalf in round 1 or another DE/DT to go with Harmon. That would be more value than a QB in '26. Get a badass Guard in round 2. Steelers need a boring, big ugly draft. Still need to get better in the trenches.

Thank you. I feel the same way. It really could be a win-win situation for the Steelers. If they’re confident in Rodgers’ ability by the end of the season, it could keep them from overreaching in the QB department. That would give them a chance to use next year’s draft to fill other holes. And if they do pick a young quarterback they like, he could actually sit and learn for a bit — which might be the best thing, especially since this team has struggled to develop offensive players in recent years because of its more conservative offensive approach.

I called the date he would sign and why and i was nuts on

They had a commitment long before he signed and for anyone who followed the facts and not the clickbait the information was there

There was a very good reason for him and the Steelers to wait until they did for him to sign

At 41 yrs old it makes a difference...... stuff just gets stiffer.
