Even though most of the fan base wanted him traded or benched for Herbig.

 

Now get nasty Sunday night.

 

I was on him too.
But full disclosure, he was underperforming.
This is the Highsmith we want to see. Kudos! Well deserved.

That shows how good our defense was last week. Highsmith is AFC DP of the week but Peyton Wilson the Steelers player of the game.

 

As long as the gifts are under the tree, I don’t care where they came from!

 

And based on his performance they were justified in their feelings

When Watt is taking up 2 to 3 men on a play, Highsmith can't just disappear. Believe me I'm freaking thrilled when he shows up.

 

To be fair, that would've been an earned designation (for both Highsmith and Herbig). Even with the big game from Highsmith, Herbig still has one full sack more, more TFL's, and multiple more TO's created... Highsmith was an absolute beast last weekend... but we need to continue to see it. We signed him after his huge 14.5 sack year (and I will admit, I didn't think we had a 14.5 sack per year player in him) and he's yet to eclipse half of that amount in a year since (7 and 6 the last two years respectively). While some of that is due to him being injured often, we still paid for the production. He needs to get another 5-6 sacks the rest of the season.

I'm glad we have all 3 rushers (and Sawyer, who has really held his own well as a mid round rookie).

 

He and Watt were quicker and more aggressive this time, they seemed to use the same lowering the shoulder move as well. Finally, he’s been MIA most of the season
