The Raiders are a **** show and his numbers are still significantly better than Austin's. Most of Austin's production comes on those quick passes from Rodgers. What the Steelers need is a receiver who an run precise routes down the field and get open, something Austin does not do. That is exactly what Meyers does well.

If one invests two picks in a player, wouldn't one work an extension?
Seems like that would make common sense. I mean you gotta kind of scout these guys like draft picks.
And discounting his skill sets doesn't buys enough beans for a coffee. He's typically around 700 yards which is decent for a #2.

Oh, wait, there's that broken down has been WR we traded for that wasted a pick after we failed to find one anywhere else.
    There is that lesson.

Roger's is praising Roman Wilson, so maybe we have a hidden gem.
That would be the best thing to happen, Wilson and Austin step it up. Between the 2, we've gotten ~400 yards almost.

Still not worth two picks for a rental player the TEs can catch those quick passes from Rodgers.

Once again the Steelers don't do in season extensions, so if you give up two picks for a rental player you're taking a big gamble he will stick around.

And once again, that's poor strategy in today's NFL.

This is the general consensus of Myers.... widely accepted.
Myers is a Steady Possession receiver - A friendly target.

    The argument here hinges around:
The magic "I don't know what a #2 is?" Wow....
The "Smith won't use him" deal
And then your projection, "A rental player"

I can agree, some teams are dysfunctional and can't operate a winning system.
We do have a mediocre Front Office. It is what it is. It cannot stand shoulder to shoulder with the Howie Roseman's of the world.
As I see it, it has now become water under the bridge. There is nothing that can be done except ***** about it of try to justify it with flawed logic.
They made their bed, let's see how it works.

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have stayed quiet at the trade deadline, but that silence could soon pay off. After trading for safety Kyle Dugger, the team now has a chance to land free agent cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. —

Just saw this what's the chances of it happening?

Samuel Jr. wasn't that great with the Chargers before the injury.

Well, his doc is in Pittsburgh.
I think his spine surgery wasn't so much football related but more of a issue he has had all along.
He's played 50 games since being drafted...
I saw he was rated 14th best FA...

I have no idea what our Front Office thinks. He is a risk and maybe that scares them away.

I don't know anything about Hardy other than he ran a 4.38 at the Combine.

Can you sort this by TD allowed that’s the number that counts

Actually total points is the number that counts

The argument I was responding to was the one you ran into about them being too old to wait to make a push.

I'm aware of your thoughts on Khan's approach to trades, and the impact of not replacing Pickens with a more substantial receiver. Both have their merits, I just don't believe as strongly in them as you. That Khan has pulled off a few lopsided trades and has been rumored to have pitched low in others doesn't convince me that for every target rumored to be on the Steelers' radar that isn't acquired it's because of his inflexibility.

And until I can see something more significant by way of an All-22 style analysis I'm skeptical on the degree of impact a receiver of Pickens' talent would've have opposite Metcalf. Maybe Smith would've pivoted to a different version of what he's otherwise run thus far, but if not, I think the returns would be more modest than some believe.

That is actually just counting one side of the ball , except Rodgers, and this is fluid, and constantly on the change

Can they? Can they get open as well as he does? Every time they use a second or third tight end instead of a second receiver, they make it easier for the defense to stack the line against the run. Until he starts hurting them down the field, teams have no reason to respect Austin.

Funny to me that we talk about stats versus efficiency. 9 different players caught passes last week. DK doesn't have the stats of a #1, is that cause he stinks?

The Steelers offense isn't a high octane, throw the ball all over the place offense...who cares about the stats of what some WR2s on other teams have. Especially the ones coming from teams that are far worse than the Steelers (Meyers / Shaheed).

As long as the Steelers are efficient, score in the red-zone and win, who cares about fantasy football stats (GP did of course ;)). The Steelers have playmakers, they just need to continue improve as a whole. Probably the OL more than anything. This system with Arthur Smith is still young...only 8 games in with Aaron Rodgers.

If he wouldn't, that is yet another flaw in the organization, not a flaw in the notion that they would be better off with a second receiver who is actually good enough to start.
