I agree with the Steelers not giving up multiple picks for WRs who will be free agents after the season, but a 4th for the right player who is under contract past this season works.

I wanted some help at either CB or WR right now there might not be a QB worth trading up for.

Our front office failed to answer the bell.
Nada, nuthin, zip, zero, nil, none, empty.
    That is the answer.

    Maybe it's a collective decisions.
Tomlin said this morning that "he liked shopping"
To his credit, he didn't say window shopping.

Meanwhile, Omar was enjoying his steak at Hyde Park Steakhouse with his phone on mute.
Sure, he'll tell us he made calls.
Maybe he did, to ask Tomlin over.

    Meanwhile the firesales raged on.
Jerry Jones sort of traded away a lot to try and salvage a season gone to the dogs.
The Jets tried to sell everything and by the sound of it, we'll be hearing the Jets called during draft day quite a lot.

Green Bay was looking for a TE.
It is a mystery if Omar said "I'll take your 1st this year and your 1st next year" or fielded the call at all.

Aaron can throw to 9 different receivers, let him eat cake.
And after a big win over the Colts, the team is got some aspiration to show up in a playoff game again.
Our player acquisition team failed to identify a player, OL, WR, G, LB, CB or anything to add that little something.
    Even with injuries.
Even with upgrades on the market.
And did you know, you might even find a guy that could be on the team for the next 4 years... and you don't have to draft one.

    But so it goes here.
The Steelers seem to be a team that only on that one special full moon every 7 years, make a significant deal.
Yes, I exaggerate that... but it feels that way.
Blame it on the intoxication from the feint scent of post season.

Thank you, Omar. May I have some more.
MVS was found standing by a firebarrell at Home Depot, you gave him a job. Maybe he excels.

You did see Aaron hit like 9 different receivers?
You get open, he hits you with a pass.
I'm not connecting the dots here? :)

And Metcalf doesn't get a ton of targets as WR1 in this offense, so what is WR2 going to do they want to feature the three TEs.

OK is borderline incompetent, IMO. His negligence of the WR position for the last two years has been as confusing as it is unacceptable. How do you trade away your WR1 without compensating for the loss, at all?! And, do it 2 years in a row?!?! I know ppl will say GP was WR1 going into last season, but, an argument can be made for DJ.

Regardless, it makes no sense to trade away a top weapon with no contingency plan unless it’s a tanking team. But, we’re leading the division & OK gives every impression that they are not only not tanking, but, they traded for or signed AR, DK, Ramsey, Queen, Slay, Johnnu, Dugger, etc indicating that they’re all in. It’s just extremely contradictory, IMO. Bc if they’re truly serious about winning now, it just seems rather stupid to continue ignoring WR & roll with what little we have.

That doesn't buy a vowel to discredit a worthwhile #2.
But OK, lets go with that to justify today.
I don't see it worthwhile to debate what they 'coulda, shoulda, woulda.' They did it and if that logic makes it easier to go down.. I am ok with it.
I'm hoping Calvin Austin advances to the next level. He did do a good job that past weekend.

Is the trade deadline the same time the election polls close or are they unrelated

On a side note my wife volunteers on Election Day and she and her friend tell others that they are poll workers

People naturally look at them funny thinking pole workers

Do you know if there were guys like this available?

Trading for guys under contract in the NFL is great because you don't have to deal with the prorated SB (like when we traded for Minkah).

I thought the idea of trying to get Jackson Powers-Johnson was a good one. Young guy with potential that we seemed to like in the draft. Still a couple seasons left on his contract after this one. Cap hits would be < $2MM / year.

My guess is that many teams would be all over that. Especially since even backup OL are hard to find. But he wasn't traded. Likely the Raiders wanted a lot of compensation.

It's true that we are competing for the SB. But we're not competitive at that level.

IMO, it would make way more sense for a team like the Bills. But even then, they might regret selling some of the future when they're likely to be consistently competitive for a while yet. But it might have been good for them to go "all in" in a year where Mahomes and Jackson might struggle to get in or be a lower seed.

By your definition it would seem MVS becomes automatic WR1 or WR2 by default. Rodgers has already vouched for his play and they've played together for several years.

I knew that Colts win Sunday was going to make the FO think we’re good we have enough. Then the trade deadline comes and goes and we do NOTHING. WTH??? Are they watching the same offense and defense we are? Of course except Sunday for the D. We NEEDED another receiver. Why they didn’t get Shaheed I don’t know. Now he’s on Seattle who already has Smith Njigma and Cupp and now Shaheed. I doubt he’ll hey many catches. Massive mistake not getting a receiver IMO.

My wish why they didn’t make any moves is that they will be getting a new HC and GM before the 2026 draft and wanted them to have feedback and input to the plethora of picks. I know this is not likely but a guy can dream!

This thread has gotten amusing. With all of the moves that we made this offseason, BIG moves, the likes of which we’ve never seen by the Steelers before Khan, and fans are flipping out saying that Khan isn’t doing anything. Seeing many of the deals out there, I’m ok. We didn’t overpay and that’s good in my book.

They gave up a 2 for a stud. Maybe the contract hurts, but the deal didn’t look painful at the time.
