I also think that (1) Slay is worse than expected, (2) Porter hurt for a stretch and (3) safety play has been mostly not great this year with Minkah gone and Elliot hurt a lot.

Adding Caleb Downs in the draft would be so awesome for this defense... but we have pretty much zero chance at getting him. But agree with you mostly here. Hopefully we can stay healthy at corner and fix that a bit moving forward.

    Stop. LoL
Then the Bengals must know what everyone is doing ,because they have scored over 30 freaking points every game that Flacco has played with them.

How about moving the goal post a bit more. Have they , or haven't they just scored over 30 in 3 games straight???
So if they scored over 30 points against us because they just knew everything they did, then it's funny that they have done it since, is it because they know everything that the other teams do also??? See how freaking stupid that is, yet you want to believe that stupid stuff ,no matter what the reality is, because the reality doesn't fit Your narrative.

i dont need anything to fit a “narrative”. Tomlin has been doing a great job on his own, creating a solid narrative for the last decade and a half.

all three defenses sucked. If Tomlin can get the team to put a winning streak together ill be more than happy. I just have serious doubts that will happen.

I think simplifying the roles in the defensive backfield helped eliminate a chunk of the miscommunication issues. Ramsey playing FS definitely helped and I'd keep him in that role here on out.

Agree completely. The last 10 points the Steelers D gave up were semi-gimmes knowing that the clock was Indy's biggest enemy at that point plus they only had 1 TO left. It was made worse by the O's inability to use more clock also.

LoL. You just can't help yourself. This is not college football where a few teams get top 10 recruiting, and the others don't. Everyone drafts, and everyone has free agents. They are all Pro Football teams. Again Has the Bengals scored over 30 points in the last 3 games , or not, and if they have by some of You people that clearly thought that they did against us because they knew exactly everything we did, then I guess they know everything the other 3 teams do also. LoL. See how stupid that sounds. LoL. They did it because they have a very dangerous offense, and Flacco is good enough to use them. Nothing more , nothing less. Just the fact that they are scoring the same as now as when Burrow was out there shows this, and it has nothing to do with knowing exactly everything we run, but again that doesn't fit Your narrative, so you move the fence, or the goal post. Good try.
    Thank You, and come again.

we the bears and jets rank in the bottom half of the league in yards given up per game this year. Watch what happens to flacco and the bengals when they face a good defense or a defense ready to play (us hopefully). We didnt have a good game plan, no pressure on the receivers at the line, no pressure on Flacco, even though the bengals line is ranked poorly. To their credit, the Steelers corrected their mistake and got to Daniel Jones (until they went to prevent in the 4th). It wasnt 40 year old immobile Flacco, it was us (us; The steelers, and mostly the gameplan, it sucked and the coaches prep sucked). Your welcome.

which defense made Justin Fields look like a star in week 1? Yes, thats right, realize how dysfunctional our coaching staff can be

Far more crucial than what we know or do not know is what we do not want to know.

this was one game. we should be playing like this every game. it took them forever to move ramsey to safety but it looks like it may have woken MT to this fact. wilson creates havoc so let the kid play. this week will be much harder. they seem to have a bounce back game and then will look flat the next week. i hope this doesn't happen. i hope MT isn't busy patting himself on the back and gets them ready for a justin herbert onslaught threw the air. lot's of receivers. they are down both starting tackles so we need to put the pressure on.

My concern: LAC knows: they have Herbert, lots of receivers, and weaknesses at both offensive tackles; and that PIT has a good pass rush. So they should implement a quick passing strategy. Will we be ready for it?

Playing.them in man thinking old corners would work against the best receivers in the league is what killed us. We don't have the horses. Good news is that simply playing more zone might be a simple fix going forward.

This. Harbaugh/Herbert will attempt to do exactly what Taylor/Flacco did. Question is... can Steelers defend it?

Hope so! But Jamar and Tee definitely are a stronger duo than McConkey and Allen or Johnson.

I think playing so much man was a huge mistake, overrating our old corners. Zone, helps when corner speed is not optimal. Zone also involve reading and reacting to the QB which leads to turnovers. QB needs to think before throwing more which impacts quick throws. That slow down allowed the pass rush to get home.

I really think people are missing REAL CHANGES made that contributed to success Sunday. It is more than emotion. Time wil tell but I think some of those struggles were strategic errors, that we might have fixed.

Where was this MAN coverage all those years we played Brady/Belichick? We played ZONE and Brady picked it apart EVERY. Single. Time. Ravens played MAN coverage with Suggs, Ngata getting pressure and were much more competitive than Steelers EVER were in the playoffs or regular season vs Patriots. A good, consistent defense can play both styles of defense. Steelers are not young and/or fast enough to play man coverage, obviously.
